I remember months ago seeing and driving next to your car from westall road all the way upto princess hwy. Looked ABSOLUTELY amazing. Back then i hadnt discovered this thread but could tell there was some awesome insane shit done to it from seeing the massive brakes poking out of those te37's. Also the exhaust note on this thing is just soo effing beautiful. i had to wind down my windows just to get a better listen.

I think you were getting annoyed with me trying to stay close to your car to get a better look, i was in a honda accord at the time.

Congrats on the car man.

I don't think it is Matts, wish it was though. Your car Matt, is more than magazine worthy, and I wouldn't be suprised to see it in a mag soon!

It looks like the GTR in PI is Pentroofs GTR, it has a black rear wing, white side mirrors and the engine looks different apart from that it is very similar to Matts.

Any updates Matt? pics or VIDs (I think everyone is dying to see and hear this beast in action!) Unbelievable car you have!

Hey all,

I haven't updated for a while now and I am very excited to see this thread has over 50,000 hits!

I have been waiting patiently for the final two modifications to be fabricated and I am glad to say that they are finally ready to be installed.

First is 'another' carbon clad custom steering wheel to compliment the other carbon interior pieces that I have acquired. I am sure you recalled in previous posts that I had already ordered a trick custom carbon steering wheel from Robson in Singapore. Well, it turned out that the steering rim was a bit too thick than what I would like, so it was back to square one to search for an alternative.

Again, I delved in the treasure chest for JDM goods - Yahoo Japan, and discovered Jastec Design. It is small company in Japan which specialises in bespoke tailor made steering wheels for a wide range of cars. Judging by the photos on display, the craftsmanship is outstanding. Its a bit of blind faith ordering anything online, as the finished product may not always meet expectations. With the assistance of Import Monster again, I took the plunge and secured an order with a manufacturing time of 50 days.

Judge the quality by the photos below:

I have not had a chance to install steering wheel yet. I will post pictures when its in place.

The Tein RS suspension is the last remaining mod that I had been planning for months. Racepace had received the revalved shocks from Fulcrum in QLD, using Racepace own R & D. Custom top hats also had to be custom fabricated to fit the Eibach springs. The spring rates are unkonwn to me at this stage, but Chris from Racepace tells me that the set up will be in between a race circuit car and a targa rally car. The suspension will be installed next week.

Just a reminder what Tein RS's look like:

Steering wheel installed! The photo does not do it justice. It certainly makes the spartan stock interior looks more upmarket

I think that just about satisfies my carbon fetish!

Stop giving Racepace things to do on this car :) I can see it now when they walk out of the office after their morning coffee... "Should we work on Matt's mint GTR or Troy's shitter GTSt full of ill fitting parts and seized bolts?" ... lol one day my car will turn a wheel in anger again :D

Once you get the shocks in the thing will have to be close to R34 perfection. Just to get out there and start giving it a punt on the track at whatever speed you are comfortable with ;)

wow, good stuff mate, i cant wait to do a build like this in the next few years, at the moment im stuck overseas and unfortunatly colombia doesnt import gtr´s to start it hehe.

but following your thread has been a pleasure, it looks alot like one thats for sale in western australia on carsales. love the gaurds and the wheels.

Looks great.

I absolutely love reading your feedback! I look forward to checking the latest posts everyday after work. I konw this sounds really corny.

Anyways, I will endeavour to post some videos of car on You tube.

cheers

Matt

Not corny at all Matt. While you can get a lot of enjoyment from building and driving a car, sharing the progress of a project build with others who are like minded is equally as fun and rewarding.

Believe me, we are all hanging out to see some video of the car too. There isn't any youtube vids youve posted up here that ive missed already is there?

Cheers,

Ian.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
