Are you in reverse, "D" or a gear (tiptronic mode)?

I ask because mine used to do it (2 years ago) when reversing very slowly.

Changed to a good quality transmission oil and all was fine.

Just started doing it again recently... but I know I was low on trans oil as I was on my way to get some more.

Maybe check/change your transmission oil for starters?

Is it shuddering like torque steer shuddering?

Snow mode engages the 4wd, like a centre diff lock, and makes the car drive off in 3rd or 4th gear. All of this would make the car shudder at low speeds especailly in a tight bend, but I think it all disengages above 40Kph.

If you drive the car in Syncro or Snow mode on dry hard surfaced roads the car will shudder like hell when you turn the steering wheel. That is the dif locks going "shit" the wheels are turning at different speeds.

Yes, very normal.

If it does it when you are NOT in Syncro or Snow mode it is a problem.

Cheers

Snow mode makes it start in 2nd gear and reduces boost and drops out above 40kph.

thanks Andy,

i was starting to think it was a problem it drives perfectly when not accidently clicked on snow or syncro.

sweet. now i can breathe easy lol.

thanks again guys :(

I did it the first night I had my stagea :( . But it's not a diff lock (stagea's don't have a centre diff to lock) but it puts the torque split 50/50 (front and rear) which at low speeds will cause a shudder while turning on dry ground. Do the M35's have a seperate button to engage the 50/50 torque split like the C34's or does just engaging snow mode do it for you? I don't believe just engaging snow mode in the C34's causes the 50/50 toruqe split to kick in too unless you hit that button as well.

The M35 has a single button that is a rocker type switch. One way gives Syncro mode, which is 50/50 split but only to 40kmh. The other way is Snow mode and this does the same as Sncro but also makes the car start in 2nd gear, limits boost and cuts out at 40kph.

When is it advisable to use Syncro mode?

When is it NOT advisable to use Syncro mode?

Can damage eventually be done somehow to the engine or transmission ?

I experienced shudder on the third drive I had which was very disturbing, but reading the posts my car is acting normally

I get some weird shuddering when i am turning right at low speeds, not left only right... series 2 c34

If you are talking about getting a sound like a ball bearing rolling around a tin can and shuddering when turning full lock in one direction could be a cv shaft rooted, thats what was causing mine.

    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
    • Just like in being 14mm too small (296mm) makes it not fit, being 14mm too big (324mm) it also won't fit. You want to find the correct rotor.
    • @GTSBoy Ok so that was the shops problem...they showed R33 rotors on R34 page and i did not know 296 do not fit(and are for R33) Yes i bought "kit" with rotors and pads. Pads are ok(i have GTT calipers front and rear). They have some 324mm but no 310mm. So i dont know if they would fit. I have 17inch LMGT4s So another question. Can i fit those in the rear or they are just "too" big for that?
    • I started removing the tank a while back with the intent to give it a proper clean. Got to a bolt that I couldn't undo completely due to a diff being in the way, so just said f**k it and siphoned the gluggy old fuel out and called it a day. Looking it the tank it looks less corroded than the one in the pics for that billet hanger from Frenchy's anyway. Isn't it the fuel filters job to worry about this stuff? I scraped off most the crusty shit of the hanger but will give it another go before reinstall coz maybe the fuel and return pipes are also full of gunk
