pls dont get anymore technical than that, im a real dummy when it

comes to using PC's (and MAC's too) :)

alternatively try www.wrx.com.au

hopes that help

The receipt says 3 hours. How on earth can 3 hours dyno and the rest on the road equate to $1400.

$1200 + $200(to buy back MY stock ecu because he says he "assumed" I didnt want it back and gave me extra dyno time for it. All that without my consent).

Another rort, I had a "50% off dyno tuning" voucher. That probably was BS anyway I'll tell ya why.......

When I booked in, the quote for dyno tuning was $140 per hour after showing the coupon.

My mate booked himself in for dyno tuning a week later and was quoted (by the same person) $190 per hour (and was told thats the normal going rate) without mentioning the coupon. I'm no mathematician but 50% off $190 aint $140 thats for sure.

Anyway........ I wont be dealing with them ever again. Shonky bastards

PS. Autosport, I'll get those tuners names off ya even the interstate ones when I'm ready to do it all again in the near future

CRD and mrt both quoted me $900 to $1200 max.

I had the maximum $1200 (plus they claimed they gave me "extra") there's no excuses why it aint as good as other people's motec powered car

Look, I know you and a couple others have been trying to stick up and make excuses for 'em but it aint helping. They ****ed up and there's nothing they can do or say about it to make me feel better.

It doesnt matter how many hours tuning other people had, I paid for maximum (plus more) the others surely couldnt of had any more than what I had. Unless of course they only gave me a fraction of the tuning time of what I paid for. Then that would be ripe for dep. of fair trading

They will only make excuses, tell me to bring my car in again (which they already did), waste more of my time, possibly make it worse (actually I have a strong feeling about this), etc, etc.

I told you off line other reasons why I'll never go back to them ever again. You forgot already?? You want a reminder???

* excessive clutch wear

* gearbox whining noise was much louder than before

* people spotting the car out of business hours

* chopping wrong hose and dodgily re-connecting it (found this one out today)

Like I said, I dont ever wanna see them ever again

I doubt its a racial thing. He does have asians working there so..... Then again who knows

In my case, maybe because back last Dec/Jan I had a big spew when they sold me the wrong dump pipe. To make the long story short, I posted about it being shit quality and posted these pics

Who knows.........

$1600 for oil change/turbo swap(labour only)/and boost mod($250 hole drilled in boost control solenoid) +i never saw the stock turbo again

oh shit. You too !!!!!

I just recieved a PM from a mate who bought a front mount and they tried to pull a fast one on him for his stock top mount. This happened just recently.

I'll ask for his permission if I can post it for every body to see

hey bao...what was the reason you chose eMRTe for ecu???

As for Motec. There were only 2 people listed in the motec directory that was worth looking at. CRD and mrt. The rest specialised in other cars.

I didnt choose CRD (even though they were a couple hundred dollars cheaper to buy the unit) because our mate MORE POWER had his car tune there and you' all know what happened. He told me not to go to them. And he himself went elsewhere for a rebuild, that really tells me something about them

I chose mrt because Surpher had his motec tuned by them and told me only good things about his tune as there were nothing bad to tell.

Rhodes kept egging me to give them another go. And a couple others one being a very close friend of mine also egged me to go to them as they were happy mrt customers

Hey Bao, and eveyone, I have been sitting back and watching peoples replies.

I think you need to take the time to tell the whole story, like the 5 phone calls we left for you that you never called back.

Or

The road test that I personally took with you that you stated how happy you were.

Or

The point of the mixup on the OEM ECU, and how we spect extra time tuning it that you weren't then charged for.

Or

The $300 discount we then deducted when you gave us the discount coupon after we had already calculated the earlier Free dyno time.

Or

The fact that your car has no BOV at all fitted, as you wanted it that way to make the turbo noise that it does.

These are just a few items that seem to have been left out.

Its very easy for people to complain, and even easier to ignore concerns, however whenever we know about someones not happy we do the best we can to solve it.

We could just ignore this whole thing and not care like many other workshops do, but we dont, what I can say is we have done nothing wrong, the power output of the car was reasonable given its mods and the time invested by us on the dyno was more than we charged for and NOTHING unethical was done.

In this case we cant force you to come back, nor can we force you to retrun our phone calls, however what you can NOT say is we dont care nor that we did not try to solve your concerns.

I even personally asked one of your freinds to explain to you that we wanted to speak to you adn you still chose not to allow us to recitfy your concerns.

The door is always open to you, simply call me and Luke, Paul and I will personally ensure we spend time with you.

MRT Performance

Brett

more coming if needed.

When I was doing some stuff to my Lynx I spoke to MRT (Brett) and had trouble communicating. I'm a mechanic with a Mech Eng degree and studying masters in management and he sounded like he was on another planet...nothing made sense so I didn't deal with him. This is a major drama tho under the trade practices act for misleading his customer not to mention the straight out theft and tax fraud if the customer is telling the truth. The ATO has a dob in line and I would call if I had first hand info that I could stand behind, which is why I won't.

Serves them right tho for trying to modify a piece of crap like a wrx....shopping trolley powered to the limit of engineering design envelope.

And steady with the flames... after modding the laser Lynx with a 30mm sway bar and suspension changes and oxygen injection and water and extra injector I got what I deserved too. The knowledge NOT to play around with already substandard cars so now I have 2 'lines.

MRT did all the mods and servicing on the charade I used to drive and the car was a little ripper for what it was. But MRT = expensive. I'd dread service time because the cost was always high - although I was much younger back then so money was worth more.

In the end, when I left the charade behind I left MRT behind. Just had the feeling I was paying too much, and started to get a little cynical about the place towards the end. The mechanics started to get quite narky and would tell me to wait in the lounge rather than watching them work, although i was only watching for interests sake. They had one who was friendly and would chat to me while he finished up on my car but he left, and so did the open friendly nature when I went there.

I remember at one time asking that they adjust the idle up because it was too lumpy - and they made more of a deal than was necessary about it and said it was adjusted a bit but they couldn't adjust it much etc etc and fuel emissions from high idle and whatever - and the idle was no different. Eventually I found out there was just an air bypass valve near the manifold with a big white knob on the top and I adjusted the damn idle myself! Made a world of difference when sitting at the lights. I think that's when the cynicism started, actually. It was a very small issue but just showed that they didn't really care as long as they had my money.

The gearbox eventually went, after a very hard life, and the second hand one I asked them to put in (limited budget and a fair price by MRT) started leaking. Had another workshop look at it (and show me what was going on - he insisted on not charging me too, before saying it was definitely a warranty job for MRT) before taking it to MRT again, and MRT were very quick to diagnose a cracked casing and offer me a warranty replacement. The second gearbox was fantastic, so that episode restored some faith in the place.

They do much better work than dealer service, people in dealers are sometimes/often absolute monkeys. But you pay hand over fist for having a rally shop do work on your car - as many have said you're paying for Brett to go racing.

Ultimately I've had some great times as a result of the work MRT's done, but they definitely pander to the cheque book racer.

I'm sorry................. WHAT?!?

Fuel rail - $930 fitted

Motec - $4070 fitted

Tune - $900-$1200 then deduct 50% so that equals $450-$600

These guys are paying $6000 for a fuel rail, ECU and tune?!?!?

WHAT IN THE HELL ARE THEY SMOKING?!?

$4070 ECU to make 155kw?!?! Maybe if they were making Rigoli or C&V Power out of their rexes, but 155kw?!?! Are they stupid or just insane?!?!

Seriously... That's like a Mastercard ad gone wrong!!!

Fuel rail - $930

Motec - $4070

Tune - $900-$1200

The look on your face when you realise you've just been violated anally by a 5" MRT cat-back exhaust - $PRICELESS.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
