Currently, my r32 is stock height and for a while ive been wanting it to lower the car. Well, over the past few days, ive been calling up a few places and ive been told that you cant get SuperLow springs for a r32 skyline gts-t. Is this true?

Both jax and pedders told me they can only do a 30mm drop, which isnt much. Where can i go lower? here is a pic of my car...

or take it to a mechanic and get them to lower it for you

Their is no superlow or ultra low king springs for ANY nissan car, check out the cataloge yourself. Why is this???

page 19, Nissan skyline R32 - KDFL-101 fronts & KDRL-102 rear

not sure why its comming up as not having any

or as i said in my previous post, speak to a mechanic and see what they can get

i was talking about the 2009 king spring super/ultra low catalogue. Heres the link:

only 4 pages, where did you get page 19 from?

but if your trying to drop down that far, why dont you get coilovers?

i dare say you'll end up farking your struts lowering that much on the street

Dude are you aware of all the bad stuff that happens when you lower alot?

- smashed up shocks (check out SKs thread)

- you wont be able to align it usefully anymore so your tyre life is down the toilet (unless you shell out on adjustable bushes/arms)

- handling stuffed

The above statements are oversimplified - just do your homework :)

what are you talking about??

you get MUCH better handling if your lower your car, springs or coilovers... you got a GTR but u got the intellect of a honda ricer. Oh, and about the smashed up shocks? Yeh, maybe in 20 years my shocks will go :)

LOL mate he's right. Seems that you are the Honda ricer. It's common knowledge superlows on stock shocks handle like absolute shit. Do ur research.

eventually

thats why if u went coilovers, both strut & springs are designed for that sort of punishment,

stock suspension is designed for pure stock standards (as far as ride height goes) when you go lowering it, like whats said above, you'll be having all sorts of problems

just go coilovers

honestly man, coilovers cost too much. A set of used ones will cost me about $1000+. Also, im not trying to turn my skyline into a track car.

true about coilovers being pricey, but you can still get street ridable coilovers (they arent just for track) all depends on the spring rate/tube design

say you spend 300 on springs (if you can find king springs), + the labour to fit them might take it up somewhere around 600-700 (not sure on what sydney prices are for labour) then once your struts have a blow out & the other associated problems that go along with it, then replace your struts & fix those associated problems.. you're up near the 1000-1500 mark (labour inclusive)

to give you an idea - i was quoted 1200-1300 for king springs (30mm) & new struts fitted, for something that would have been a medioca ride, the same place suggested a set of coilovers they would do for 1600-1700 fitted - this is on a 4 door R33, basically told them i wanted the ride as comfortable as possible while still being able to drop the car and not have it bottom out over every shit peice of road up here in brisbane

    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
