Great stuff guys... awesome info as always Timmeh you are _the_ authority on stagea spec's lol.

RB_Ryan yes I was getting viscous confused with mechanical. Been reading the group buy threads for kaaz centres too much lol.

Anybody have an idea how much it would cost in labour for a shop to open the diff' to change centres (Simon)? Might as well replace rear subframe bushes while there? Replacement mounting bushes for the diff itself available? (mine look a bit worse-for-wear).

Simon interesting to read that you went for an LSD upgrade - and what kind of a difference did it make? Do you feel like you've got more traction, or less? Just wonder what attesa would make of an LSD... would it start to oversteer 'cause it can, or would it start to understeer because it's not got more traction at the rear...

cost me around $250 from specialist diff shop.

I do feel like I have more traction, maybe psychological, have since upped boost and fitted highflow and the rears dont even think about letting go. I occasionally feel the fronts slipping (wet) but understandable when the weight goes to rears in accel.

Im not one to throw it around corners anymore, but i would doubt whether it makes any difference to steering, mine feels very neutral, maybe it might in a 2wd model.

There is 2 types of 6 bolt axles

Auto's are 3x2

RS4s and 260rs and GTR are 6x1. Larger diameter and stronger.

I currently have a RS4S complete rear end sitting here if you need something checked

I just looked under the back of my car. It is/was a factory auto series 2 but it has the 6x1 bolt pattern on the diff output shafts and has the same diameter shafts as the the new manual cradle and diff I have sitting waiting to go in. Did a quick measure of the rear RH driveshaft lengths and the auto was 25mm longer which makes sense due to the wider track.

So does that mean my car may have come from factory with a LSD the same as a RS4 or 260rs?

Will FAST tell me?

Darrin, fast can tell you if you have a factory fitted LSD, you can only just make it out from the japanese/english character mess fast give's you. do you have fast? if so enter your vin, and in the row of buttons across the top you will see one of them has a blue "OP" on it. press that one and it will list any options fitted. there may be some that are just japanese characters or a mix of english and japanese but you should be able to make it out if it has a LSD. if you dont have fast pm me your vin and i'll have a look for you :P

Are these two axles the same except for the bolt pattern? As I am wanting to put a 260rs rear diff in but I am running an auto diff with the 3×2 pattern.

Best if you can get a complete rear end. I don't know if you can just use the diff centre. If you are planning to change to 6x1 axles carefully check the lengths as there is a number of sizes in 6x1 and they are different left and right.

    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
