OK, knowing that we don't have a whole bunch of cash to play with.. we don't get paid for this.. and we are organising SAU Events in our own time.. What would you absolutely love to see organised for you guys as SAU members?

The normal kind of thing we do would be:

-Cruise

-Cruise & BBQ

-track days

-Texi

-Show n Shine

Anything at all.. and if it's some thing big, what do you think a reasonable amount of money to pay each would be?

Have you been to an SAU event? What did you like, what would you change? Would you come again?

NSW SAU to organise a National Celebration of the 21st Anniversary of Godzilla.

Cruise would start from Bobbin Head > Old Pacific Hwy > Terry Ashwood's NISSAN RESTAURANT called TRACKSIDE at Gosford.

Terry will allow exclusive use of his restaurant from late Sunday morning to 4pm at no charge to SAU

Only charge to SAU would be to pay appearance $$ to Fred Gibson (- and that's Terry Ashwood's idea: not mine)

April 18 is on the weekend squeezed between Easter weekend & Anzac Day weekend

Mark Skaife could co-sign Award Certificates (along with Fred Gibson) for Show n Shine Winners

MOTIVE DVD Shooter thru JetMedia could be present.

Performance Imports Mag Shooter could be present

Expert Videographer like Pezhead and others to shoot cars going by on the Old Pac.

Expert SAU Photographers like XMetal, Sl!m (hehe) & Siddr to be approved shooters to offer Members a Session of their car with VIPs or the Winfield Grp A Car for a fee. I mean, I'd pay money for THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think there was one held recently? S13 Deviat/Ando organised one...

But, if there is interest, then I am sure we can organise them again and a lot more regularly

Things i'd like to see:

More texis (missed the last one)

More track days (even during weekday if it means costs less)

Club driver training (i.e. 10 SAU guys go do advanced driver training or stunt style driving on the skidpan etc)

Drift classes (come on, who doesn't want to learn )

Hill climbs (they look like heaps of fun)

Tuner talk nights (all sit around and listen to a guy who knows his stuff about engines/tuning/suspension etc) i don't know much, so i like to hear from ppl who do... could even do it at a friendly garage so we can get a car on a hoist to see first hand... i'd find that tremendously helpful...

NSW SAU to organise a Local Celebration of the 15th Anniversary of the R33 GT-R.

Cruise would start from Swamp Rd Albion Park > Macquarie Pass > Sheepwash Rd > Nowra Rd > Kangaroo Valley Rd > Berry > north to Jamberoo Mtn Rd > Robertson Pie Shop or BBQ at Robertson or along tarred section of Belmore Falls Rd Robertson

Co-opt Rotary Club of Bowral to bring their BBQ Equipment with charity $$ going to them (saving SAU arrangement-hassle & hire fees)

Held on weekend before October long weekend and still far enough away from final exams

Video/Still Shooters can be positioned at the last hairpin bend before the top of Mac Pass where there's a massive rock-face

(Bike riders congregate there or another one further down sometimes)

Video/Still Shooters can be positioned on the Kangaroo Valley township side of the Francis Greenway Bridge

Videography can also be done of cars going thru archway of Ranelagh House at Robertson

If Rotary or Apex comes on board, budget constraints could be negligible?

The low numbers is this issue. Just not as many people make the effort to come out. About 2 years ago i used to get 20-30 people to the Great Northern for a beer n steak night, but last one i did about 3-4 months ago i think we maxed about 9 people....

Just not the #'s anymore to do monthly. Maybe 1 every 3 months may work.....

+1 for driver training/advanced driving techniques. I did one years ago at Amaroo Park and it was really helpfull. But it was in a Datto 1600 so not the fastest car around

Also +1 for track days and hill climbs, I need to bust my track cherry!

Hill climbs just look to be soooo much fun.

Just my opinion so don't lynch me but I just don't get drifting myself. IMO it looks like fancy ice skating on tarmac.

I've never done drifting, but it looks like awesome fun... going around a corner sideways with the steering wheel pointed in the wrong direction lol, like controlled chaos

Last year and 2007 Initial drift invited SAU NSW members along to one of their days for their members only price

Unfort last year after all the hype, we only had 5 NSW members take advantage of it

However - seems to be more people interested in it now which is good!!!!

I like BBQ's and perhaps a shortish cruise (1hr each way). Alot of people come to them because not everyone can drive proffesionally and not everyone can afford to break their cars at track and skid events...or have a car setup for it. However BBQ's and cruises on the other hand have the biggest turn out because all sorts of drivers turn up, young, old, experienced, inexperienced etc.

ive been on a few things with sau over the years...

being up in the hunter valley though... its difficult to get down to events. i have to pick and choose as its some days can be expensive and tiring to even get to, let alone participate.

ive only ever been on cruises and the odd show and shine..

but to me, owing a skyline is about driving the thing... i think show and shines are a waste of time.. when everyone sees the same cars at a cruise anyway pretty much.. i also think dyno days are a bit of a waste of time as people see how their cars perform in the REAL WORLD on a cruise... dont flame me, slim asked for my thoughts... thems my thoughts.

i would like to see a bit more driving stuff up this way... hillclimbs, texi's, cruises. i know thats difficult giving you guys are all from sydney... you try to organise something up here but unless its an "official SAU" event people dont seem to bother as it may only be one or two cars and it turns out to be a waste of time.

i dont know what costs are to get something like a texi going... but i think $200 for track days is reasonable. but for me... driving to wakefield... long trip.. and i wouldnt feel comfortable without taking my car on a trailer... if something happens... its a long trip trying to get a busted car home.. so time and costs go up... making it not worth it for me. (not when... honestly... i can jump in my car, go for a squirt around the back roads up here and get rid of my sillyness in a few short spurts, i dont need to thrash a set of tyres or hit 300km to love my car)

the corporate box at super lap was a good idea... better if it had food action in the way of a bbq, but i know oran park wouldnt allow it.

i think a cruise + bbq is always brilliant... if you had someone organised at the other end set up for when the cruise rolls in.. ive been on a few trail bike rides that are like that.. its bloody awesome.. ride up, cold drinks, good food, all ready to go.. then you ride off and when you return at the end of the day, there is more cold drinks and stories of the days adventures.

it felt a bit shit at the putty cruise when a few people including our fearless leaders took off to the pub for lunch... alot of us were left standing around feeling left out and subsequently left for home, it had no real END to the cruise.. i know it couldnt be helped... but had there been a bbq, everyone could have stayed together and departed at their leisure.

maybe some more corporate events for paying members?? like even the v8 supercars or something... has to be some incentive for people to join up and pay a membership for the club to get more money.. more perks and lurks.. im happy to support the club.. but there is no incentive for me when it takes alot to make it to events.. its becomes not worth my while so to speak....

a forum i used to be on, you had to be a paying member to even look at half the threads... most sections... including technical sections were closed off unless you were a paying member... which made the members a very tight and close knit group that were happy to help each other out knowing each was dedicated to the cause of the forum/club.

and name tags.... ahhh... it gets annoying asking people who they are on the forum sometimes.. if we all had a stick on name tag that you get when you arrive at the meet point, it would allow you guys to keep track of whos here, whos a member and whos a ring in.. and we would be able to walk up to someone who we know on screen and have developed an online friendship with and introduce ourselves in person.

ive thought enough, my head hurts..
