nismoid is going off 98 you are going off E85. whats the point of the argument?

I'm not sure he has one to be honest. He knows full well you wont make the figure on PULP, the ole smoke and mirrors trick perhaps?

PULP is what everyone talks about with regards to fuel, power output and requirements unless otherwise advised.

If someone makes more power on a specific fuel (which happens), it is clearly stated.

Everyone knows E85 is not a commonly accepted fuel, it is no different to any other boutique fuel and is irrelevant to 99% of applications discussed here on a daily basis.

If the OP is going to use E85 then of COURSE he will make 360-370rwkw, and i would agree with that.

Anyone will tell you that as its the typical 40rwkw gain from using that fuel.

However E85 was not stated as a requirement or part of the scenario, nor is the equipment list supplied upto the task. So one of course assumes the norm, PULP.

Every power estimate thread, every "what will this turbo make" thread all assume PULP.

News to me if E85 is now a commonly available fuel.

Cerbera just enjoys trying to make people he doesn't like look silly any chance he gets, must be some kind of childish game those WA people play from time to time, but that's ok as long as i get to play too. :P

700cc injectors says that he won't be making 350rwkw on E85, they're not up to the task. Dave (NYTSKY) is on 1000cc injecotrs now, and so is Anthony (Guilt-Toy) I believe. Anthony also has a 3L bottom end. And I don't think he's running a 3076R, I thought it was a 3540...

So with the combined facts that a 3076R won't make 350 unless on E85, and the fact that 700cc injectors won't run 350 E85 rwkws, and that the original poster never mentioned E85, Nismoid is right.

That turbo, with those injectors, and either fuel, will not make 350rwkws... E85 will get you closer, but then you will have to up your injectors...

If the OP is going to use E85 then of COURSE he will make 360-370rwkw, and i would agree with that.

Sorry to detract from the entertaining argument... but assuming capable engine and appropriate head work etc from an RB26, would it be possible to make 350kW or more using N1 turbos or GT-SS's (or Garrett equivs.) taking advantage of the higher octane of E85 with timing etc...?

Mike

Fact. A GT3076 will not make 350rwkw on PULP. Nor will it make 360rwkw, or 374rwkw on PULP.

That may depend on dyno....

Shows how ignorant those with the incorrect facts really are.

Was this a dig at me? Not sure what you think of me but I try to help cut through the shit where possible.

^ lol no dude, not you :P

I reckon you should be able to do it, there is no reason you can't. Same would be said for any other boutique fuel - Martini, Sunoco

If you can get 320-330rwkw from GT-SS's on PULP, then you are looking at around 360rwkw give/take?

Every result i've seen from E85 skylines, EVO's, WRX's - once you get to the 300rwkw marker, to approx an extra 30-40rwkw.

Just gotta remember the offensive fuel consumption of course.

So you could probably apply that percentage to below 300rwkw and workout the gains there as well, should be "near enough" for the intents of results projection

not at all, love a good debate and dont like people slinging "facts" that may not be true!!!

OK to summarise this thread.

1. A 3076 .82 will get you there however you will need to run E85 and your injectors will need to be upgraded to 1000cc items and upgraded fuel pump to reach your desired hp goals.

2. If however you are prepared to accept a laggier setup a GT35 will acheive your power goals on PULP and you can retain your existing injectors.

  • 2 weeks later...

just to stir nismoid up a little bit more...

joeyjoejoe just made 320rwkw with 555cc using E85

now my maths may be a little off but does that not translate to 700cc injectors capable of 403rwkw

OUCH!!!

Oh snap.

ps. on topic, go a GT30R, you don't need massive HP for drift, instead you need lightning throttle response, a 35R will take too long to spool in your application.

Fixed.

Cerbs is wrong ... as usual .. hehe :)

If its PUMP the gt3076 it won't make 350rwkw ... lets see some TIME, WEIGHT AND MPH to back a car that has ?

It its E85 far out run the GT35. If you understood E85 you would know why ..... oh wait you don't have a car tuned on E85 do you cerbs ?

Just FYI b4 mods freak, having a friendly rib from one Simon to another !

You will get around 375rwkw depending on rail pressure and your chosen AFR.

Agree 100 %

a 35R will take too long to spool in your application.

Disagree 100 %

Disagree 100 %

Simmo, I know you have had the 35R like I have, but you've used it in a drag application.

On the track, I found the 35R to be a bit lazy when coming on/off the throttle.

You can disagree all you like, but thats just my experience :ninja:

Hey Brockas :D

There a few points around this discussion.

Our setups are not apples and apples. As you have a china mani and t4 rear. So I would expect yours to be more laggy.

One interesting thing we both have is the OS gearset ratios. Man they do make 1st n 2nd feel a bit laggy when your caught off boost.

Remember we are talking drift(not track or drag) which neither of us have actually done. So I am using Bangers setup as an example. Its an RB25 and gt35 turbo and yer we both know he's one of the top level performers in perth.

An rb26 would be better again !

Finally for track setup, yer I would use E85. Thats a whole new world again !!

Hoping to one day soon, get my car on the no limits night. So find out for myself what you mean.

Guess again it will be different though as my car is a lot lighter. I just need to get a sway bar fitted to my car lol.

banga is a invalid argument, his rpm range is between 10rpm below limiter to 10rpm above so respnonse isn't really needed :(

i remember sean talking about tuning the various wa drift rb25 powered cars and they all make a bit over 400rwhp on his hubber with the 3076R's making shit loads more mid range that the 3582R's

Yup all valid points, except I'm running a stock gearbox now (after breaking the OS) and it actually makes it feel a lot more responsive than with the gearset.

The on/off transition of the 35R isn't bad by any means, just don't think it feels as sharp as a GT30.

maybe you need to harden up then and stop whining about lag and CLUTCH CLUTCH IT !! hehe.

Ahh yer forgot about the broken box :(

At the end of the day I reckon I agree with you. Big power isn;t really needed for drift. More time should be spent on car setup and driving skill :) (ps I have none) The GT30 will have plenty for sure.

    • Driveline vibration is resolved. I ended up loosening all my engine mount and trans mount bolts, giving it a good shake then retightening everything and it's gone... Let's just say I was surprised that fixed it.  I've been happily driving it around again but unfortunately put zero time into my direct port/constant pressure WMI setup. I'm on vacation next week, so I'll try and finalize it then.  On a different note, I spent all week fuel/ignition mapping 2x 216L V16 engines. Turbo's were burning glycol and we swapped them out for larger units. We also had planned emissions testing on site, so I figured I'd be there the same week to use their instrumentation and massage any emissions issues out if needed. This was a first for me. Fuel management is similar in certain ways to automotive (i.e air density as load variable) but very different in others. It's all PLC based and AFR's are controlled by air and not fuel. They use a control valve between the turbo and air manifold to control pressure which in turn controls AFR's. Due to this, target AFR tables supplied by the OEM are in pressures and not mass which really through me off. They use air pressure vs fuel pressure tables. I also relied on an O2 concentration sensor the emissions team had in the exhaust. Ignition timing was also all over the place and we were losing a fair bit of power. They're now happily sitting at 16-40BTDC depending on load. We were making about 1600kw at 900rpm at 90% load. Engines were running a lot smoother as well.
    • heh, aint no R32 ever meeting modern targa cage rules unless the driver is veeeery short OP, good luck with the sale, since its already in the land of freedom I'm sure you will find a good buyer.
    • meh, it was a good video, clear about the issue and how he dealt with it. A bit heavy on the RTV and very brave to put an RB in anything without rebuilding it first, but otherwise I thought it was good Dose, I'm not sure that having the pickup forward is a big issue; yes of course the oil could shift under brakes but the sump should never be empty enough for that to be a problem (unless you also have a higher volume oil pump, and that oil can't return from the head to the sump quickly enough)
