Fantastic to hear that the 4WD system is sorted. Would have been extremely disappointing if it wasn't.

I am absolutely perplexed Advan don't make a wider tyre than 265 in an 18" particularly when Dunlop and Bridgestone have 295 and 285 respectively. Now those sizes would be ideal........

Phunkey - that is a massive shame. I can imagine you want to 'kill' your engine builders and frankly I wouldn't blame you. What's the issue?

OK, im a little cofused......cant i just have a beer or two lol.

Giddyup!!!! >_<

For those whom cannot be bothered to Google the Tenga Eggs that I've ordered for the SAU crew to enjoy on the hill whilst we imagine drinking beers.

its a shame you not going to make it phunky, whats the problem? what do you need?

Unfortunately I need an engine Russ! Basically the situation is that my engine builders are taking an extraordinarily long time to get anything done as it's warranty work (water mixing with the oil due to a combination of incorrectly matched head/block decking and the sleeves dropping slightly in the bores), and I'm now not convinced that they are taking the time and care required and so as of today the engine is being taken from them and given to some people I trust in order to put it back together, and they cannot guarantee it will be ready in time due to other commitments such as Easter this weekend and the LSX Nationals the weekend after. It may be ready in time, but the cost risk of me not being ready is fairly high, and secondly I'd feel pretty bad if someone else missed out on entering based on the chance I may make it.

I have been searching for a replacement engine for the time being but have been struggling to find one in good condition for a decent price just to get me by until after Superlap.

I am so far from impressed with them it's not funny, and am using a lot of will power to not go down there and give them a serious piece of my mind in the interest of diplomacy for my mechanic who has other engines down there currently. There is no issue anymore, it's all ready to be screwed back together. Rings have arrived, bores have been honed (6 months later) but the risk of them taking another 6 months to screw it together is too great so I'm pulling it from them.

Too patient I think Russ! :)

I hope your 32 makes it there though, would be great to see it in person.

Oh well, live and learn I suppose. I should have put an LS engine in it and been motoring around years ago!

that sucks dane. sadly there is nothing you can do except what you've done. going down there and abusing the bloke and punching out an apprentice will make you feel a bit better but in the end wont do you any favours and will probably only sour things further. sadly mechanics get very touchy when they f**k up which is a bit rich when they are clearly at fault but that's how it is. and they HATE doing return jobs. taking it somewhere else is probably a wise move. just hope they are better than the first lot.

fingers crossed for you mate. :(

Thanks Richard, and you're dead right. I've just spoken with my mechanic and he's picked up the engine so next week it should be in the hands of my mate and hopefully this nightmare will be done with :(

Have bought tickets to come and watch though so at least I'll still be there.

Looks like the new Tilton Interiors EVO that they are building is going to be a weapon as well :(

1000hp and 1000kgs!!! So yes, there is going to be a 2 car Tilton Team :D

yikes! 1:1 power to weight ratio is pretty hardcore. if they can get any kind of a handle on set-up at all it will be tough to beat. hard to mess with numbers like that.....

I hope this is for real and not an April Fools gag!!!!

    • Man, different parts but the same numbers is terrible @dbm7! And it doesn't help that most online shops don't list the part numbers at all. They just give a list of compatible models...
    • Slow when hot could also be because its getting more dynamic compression, OR things are getting a bit tighter once it is all expanded. If it were an earthing issue, typically I'd expect you to have it have issues all the time. Unless it's really a combination of both things. Where the higher compression, and things being a bit tighter, is giving that bit of extra load and you do need a slight clean up on the cables/connections.
    • Yeah, this is one of the most annoying things about nissan part numbers... I've got an unrelated example... Image is of the AT output shaft ~ they have the same part#, but clearly the shaft on the left is beefier design to that on the right ...the difference (essentially) is the 'lighter' shaft on the right, is for engines up to RB25DE (this includes RB20 variants) : the shaft on the left is for RB25/26DET(T)....are they interchangeable? Yes...but obviously one shaft is going to be stronger than the other...and, the lighter shaft is around USD115, but the heavier shaft closer to USD150...same part#... ...epc-data usually tells a tale ~ the amayama listing for 39100-23U60 has a note "Longest side is between 60 and 105 cm" ; no such info is there for 39100-23U70 ...and given the great disparity in price between the 2 parts, it makes me at least curious (to the point of caution) where the 'extra money' went? ...ie; these 2 parts have a cost difference that (to myself at least) isn't explained by 'plastic boot'...ie; with amayama there's AUD700 price difference ...plastic versus rubber?...I'm not seeing it like that...and 60cm ~ 105cm...??...that's a huge disparity....something hinky going on here... I'd try searching by VIN, not model... /2cents
    • I don't know for sure, but I'd expect them all to be interchangeable given the diff end and hub end don't move/change between any C34 series. Often Nissan will change part numbers and the aftermarket follows those year ranges; but the original part number change doesn't mean other parts won't fit. The change could be a change in material, internal parts or even just supplier. For example, all the RB gearbox to engine bolts are no longer available and there is a new part number instead. The only change is they went from cadmium plated bolts to zinc plated due to the issues manufacturing with Cadmium. They look different but work the same.
