i've been using the kuhmo's as road tyres on my car, a little more nvh than a regular road tyre but good grip and seem to be wearing well,

i did a deca day on them and the car wasn't as pointy at slow speeds as it has been on worn semi's, but for the price they are great.

I'm up for a KU36 "control tyre" lap attack! Sounds very cost effective. Let's set up a pinned thread to record our lap times at various circuits across the country.

Maybe Option 1 could offer us discount with group buys?

When my Kuhmo V70's wear out, I'll look at getting the KU36. Just need my track buddies to do the same so we are all equal.

Badhairdave: I would think it would turn out better than a Nankang tyre challenge! That was with dumhed and TMB yeah? lol nankangs!

Faster, yes. Better, no chance.

Just the unpredictability of chucking the car into a corner not knowing whether it was going to stick made it very interesting.

The only problem was most people were too scared to run such a crap tyre for some strange reason...

ryan i'm up for a ku36 control tyre for 2010.

marty, josh and yourself are running ku36. my 595rs need a refresh for 2010, so i'll grab some ku36 (would have liked to test the rsr tho...).

you just have to turn up to the wrx days.

tho if the times go up, im going back to 595. lol

In fact, my little track group of friends (6 or so of us) are working toward having the KU36 as our group "control" tyre :D

I like the sound of this. count me in for next year. Should have a road going clone of my current track car, perfect class.

I run skid pan days on a wet concrete 'track' in Gympie.

In the afternoon, we have a time trail against the stop watch..

The track starts on the wet concrete then migrates onto dry black stuff which has a slalm built in. 3 of the top 5 cars are on them.

We ask a lot of the tyres, and the KU36's perform stinking well.

My car runs them (235/45/17) all round, and power sliding them has become a whole lot more harder, even on wet concrete. :P

Sure, they are not a dedicated slick, but bang for buck, they are stinking hard to beat!

I got mine from option1.

My skid guys (me included) run 38~40ish psi in the fronts and 42~46 in the back (for powersliding).

Great grip and reasonable tyre life.

who runs them on a heavy car? ie 33 gtst / GTR and what are they like in the heat of summer after a few really hard laps?

does a 1640kg (with me in it) JZA80 TT Supra count? Had 275/35*18 rears. In Brisbane heat, they were best in the first 3 laps, but do 5 laps no worries. It was only the rears that started going away a bit after 3 or 4 real hard laps, the fronts remained very consistent. I'm not known for being smooth on the throttle though so I tend to give the rears a hard time.

Ran them for the first time at Oran Park on sunday and was pretty impressed.

For what they are and the price they held up very well. Kept them at 37 rear, 39 front cold.

It was pretty hot out there with amb temps at around 30 degrees and no dramas at all.

The only thing was my brakes were really going off after 2 hard laps (stock 32 GTR rotors) so never really got the chance to push them lap after lap without a cool down lap.

They did "ball" up a bit but nothing like my road tyres did last time at OP.

You have a very smooth throttle application Hary..... in compariosion to a monster truck.

Plus Oran Park is notorious for being hard on tyres so from what you say, that's pretty good!

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?  
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.  
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them 
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
