I know it's a bit of a simple question but i dont know the answer so i thought I'd ask anyway. I have a no name pod and am pretty sure it's pretty crap quality, i was just wondering how much difference i would notice with a more expensive better quality one.. Like if the material on them makes the flow that much better to spend 100-200 on a good pod.

Much of a muchness if you are running a standardish setup. You'd be hard pressed to notice a difference.

As long as its not a HKS "mushroom", those things are shithouse and foam breaks off too easy into the intake.

i tried a monza one from autobarn many moons ago

it was ass, it killed all the throttle response

i dont know how, but i did

with the monza one fitted ,there was noticable lag from the time you open the throttle to the time the engine got positive power

took it back, changed to a k&N one and it was back to new again

I was about to mention that magazine test - not sure where you can buy 3A Racing filters from though, but at only 30 bucks vs over 100 lol, thats pretty compelling.

I have a 3A pod. back to back V.s K&N, I honestly couldnt really notice. The 3A is a lot cheaper tho!

Can you confirm if they are washable and re-usable?

I believe that they are a dry type cotton element, yes? Wouldn't they require oil if they were re-usable?

well yes I have washed it before. Hot soapy water, blow it out with the compressor and let it dry out properly in the sun also. I do it maybe every 3-6 months. No I do NOT oil it

actually I have had the pod for over 2 years and its still looking good/performing well.

and something I just remembered, a mate of mine used to have a JZA80 TT supra which had a ARC induction box, for science we fitted a 3A one day and the difference was amazing. Sharper throttle response and seemed to breath better full stop. considering the ARC sells for maybe 20 times more than a 3A pod, they are definatly good value.

The Blitz LM filter I had previously seemed to let quite a bit of dust through :S so changed it to an Apexi Power Intake (which incidentally im not sure on how to clean out)

You got the APexi Pod?

Just soak it in K&N Air Filter cleaner, let it soak in for 10 mins then hose off and then let it sit and dry in the sun.

I've tried many pod filters K&N, Blitz LM etc but im currently using a Apexi one. But the 3A is a bang for your buck how its been dyno proven with very good flow and very good filteration. Heres some pics of the past when i owned my skyline with the podys... Didnt really feel a diffrence but yeh.

we sell the 3a Racing ones at Autobarn in penrith .. actually i just recieved 3 yesterday .. they also look really good for how much they are .. And in tests actually are better then the K+N and a bonus because they dont have shit oil that stuffs around with ur hotwire AFM! ..

They are like $48 from memory compared to $99 K+N ones .

And i sell pod filters everyday

I have a hks one sitting here, was never on the car because i just found it in the boot lol. Shit pod and would never use it. Got a 3A racing one. Been using it for 2 years and its still perfect, got it from Shan (funkymonkey) when he got some for a few of us sau guys.

    • A few little updates that weren't filmed due to not taking long to do or not interesting enough for their own video. My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I ordered in a repair loom through work and re-did it all. New Kenwood unit installed (Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth, Reverse Camera) The bonnet/hood gas struts have been poor since collecting the car. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. Sadly no photo of them fitted, you're not missing much lol The dished Momo steering wheel got replaced with my Momo Tuner, turns out I ordered counter sunk bolts for the horn trim ring (like they normally are for the steering wheel) instead of allen cap (flat seat)  A terrible photo of a Quaife style gear shift knob I've had stashed in my tool box for many years after purchasing the incorrect thread size (I can see a pattern emerging with ordering incorrect parts...) Also threw in a cup holder and a (empty) Boss Coffee can, because why not  
    • GT-R clearly the better choice! The 300 is certainly not insaly fast but has a decent amount of poke. Does a nice little drift around the corners with a decent amount of throttle. It's VERY predictable in a slide too.  Feels so progressive! People probably presume there's a 25 year old driving it based on my behaviour this week! 🤣
    • Yeah Jap import. Fairlady Z then! I'm a bit the same.  They've been on my radar for a fair while but then just impulsively decided to buy one!  Was going to just buy an NA and add turbos to it later but decided to save the f'ing around and just buy the turbo version.
