yeah , he was there, he got two laps (1 each a day) ......haha. that's all

and wasn't allowed to give it any full throttle squirts.

how frustrating!

he said the track was super tight throught the chicanes and used full lock in the car.

d'oh! that's why I had a missed call from berry.

no full throttle eh??? hehe. probably scared a 10 year old skyline would lap quicker than the current super taxi's...

good stuff. I can't believe they even let one of us crazy import loves get close to the big boys. well done mate. :(

I went for a ride around the track - not in the 34 but in the safety car and yes it was very tight, the concrete walls made it feel even tighter and i think they will make some changes next year not only to the course but some of the things like bridges and access areas around the paddock area.

One thing i found with the whole event coming from a view that they should have spent the money on Eastern Creek or another circuit for NSW was that i felt it ended up being a very good event and i was glad i went along.

The feeling was a lot different and drew on more of a corperate feel then i have experienced at other tracks and events like Bathurst, i think this is a move in the right direction for the V8 supercars and will see them gain more support from the mainstream audience.

Hi.

That was an interesting comment regarding the steering lock required at the "circuit". I think the people who run our "cutting edge" technology touring car teams let themselves down badly as they didnt have enough steering lock on their cars. The accidents mostly involved relatively slow speeds with cars not even trying to do anything as they couldnt- sequential gearboxes great at speed hopeless at low speeds(inability to select 1st gear from say 3rd instantly)- no steering lock to take evasive action. To me this made most of the "stars" look pretty ordinary.

I personally wasn't keen on the circuit.

I thought there were too many chicanes included, and yes as everyone else has said it was too tight. I don't think it was suited for V8s. Maybe F1 could handle it. But i think it was just a poorly designed course.

unfortinatully the event has drawn a lot of praise. the track is rubbish, and looks more like it was designed to cause crashes than good racing (narrow, tight, gay). It's not asif they can even say it had a good backdrop, like say Gold Coast, or Albert Park. Could have been held in Launceston, and no one watching on tv would be a wiser

yes. i wasnt to impresed with it, we had lots of dammage, (utes) but jack took the series with grant coming home second. so a 1,2 for the campionship was nice :)

before race 3 we had done a total of 10 laps..... rubbish track with heaps of our time lost from them gluing it back together..

    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
    • Yeah - I mean, go the other way. Smaller range. Not larger.
    • To re-cap, I bought: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Lsailt-8G-Infiniti-Q50-Q60-2014_1601171829627.html?spm=a2756.trade-list-buyer.0.0.2cd476e9FTIlKE As you can see, if I bought 20 it was $653, but I bought 1 so it was $1,170. I was very tempted to buy 2 and resell 1 at 25% cheaper. @MBS206, I am not sure if they do a Kluger one, here is their list but it might be there under a global model name: http://www.lsailt.com/product/android-interface?page=1 Keep in mind these full android replacements have basically all the bits a phone does (cpu, ram, storage, wifi, bluetooth, usb interfaces) other than a screen (it uses a host), thus the $800+ cost. Android Auto screen mirroring is MUCH cheaper as it's just a cut down shell, input mirroring and output mirroring BTW I also need that "screen off" feature, it is much harder to see wildlife even if a dash is reasonably dark. Both the Fuga and V37 have display off buttons for night use, they just come back on for a second or 3 if you interact with it, eg skip a song.
    • I use FCC car launcher. It has an option for different backgrounds, so instead of turning the screen off you can swipe 'up' to a black screen with no background/icons. (mine has the time on it only). It's kinda nice. Also lets you use gestures to say swipe to go to next song, etc.
