How to get a performance upgrade for under 6k for your R34GTT

1. $50 for an ad in carsales to sell your car

2. Free to search car sales for a GTR

3. $60 Tank of bp98 to get to said GTR owners house to view car

4. $X amount of money for aforementioned GTR (obviously not as much as an R34 GTT will cost stock).

5. $Stamp duty

6. $ Taxi to get to house of GTR owner to pick up your new car (If possible and not contstrained due to owner being over east)

This will get you about 2 x the performance and over 9000x more enjoyment.

Feel free to add to this list.

I have made the change and a few others also ^ refer to Gersfan.

I'm going to assume that you are talking about getting a R32 GTR since it would be achievable for money he is talking, believe it or not, maybe he doesn't want to go from a fairly newish car to something that is 20 years old and will probably end up costing him more money once 20 year old parts start letting go.

He asked for 6k onto his car, not telling him to sell his car.

It really depends. How much power you are looking for man? I would go a MAP sensored ECU to avoid having to uprade the MAF everytime you want more power etc. But you will definately need a better fuel pump. Some nismo injectors as everyone else has suggested (only because of their spray pattern and they use stock wiring harness) and of course a bigger turbo. An easy bolt on HKS gtrs would be perfect. PM-R33 who just posted before me make between 260 and 270kw with it and it is very responsive. Unless you are talking bigger power then I would go the HKS 3037 or something around that area. But like I said it depends how much power you want to make and if you want it responsive or not. There are SOOOOOOOO many things you could spend the money on. Ive already put a shit load into my car and Im still putting together shopping lists

Then when you blow your stock turbos and pay a mechanic a grand in labour and 2 - 3 grand for a new pair of turbos only to realize you now have turbos that can push alot more air and need a tune. At this point you decide you may aswell get injectors, what are they worth these days a grand? maybe z32 afms to match, another 600, how bout a fuel pump? walbro going to be enough? may aswell do an external setup theres another 400 bucks atleast, plus the labour.

All because you wanted to run 1 bar on your stock turbos to beat a stock little evo when all you really wanted was to make your GTT faster.

And in the end the evo still won. Take my word, Ive been there.. But was lucky enough to be driving the evo

And now back on topic, I would start off with doing the front/dump/cat if you have not already then move onto a fuel pump, boost tap, highflow turbo and a tune. You could probably get away with that for half what your looking at spending and net yourself a respectable 230rwkw. If you have already got a full exhaust invest the money into a Z32/walbro/injectors for another easy 20kw. In all theory your current setup is good for roughly 160rwkw? enjoy and GL

Nistune

550cc injectors

Z32

Fuel pump bosch 040

Hypergear hiflow or HKS gtrs.

seems you have done a few hypergear turbos. Been reading about them here

i consistently hear that cheap turbo upgrades should be avoided, and its virtually half the price of a GCG (i think).

you install them. Work with them. i got 185rwkw bit under 12 psi stock turbo with the usual support mods. Wouldnt mind a solid 220 or whatever it can (40rwkw gain should be noticeable which is my only requirement - a kick in the pants) Highflow is as far as ill take the modifications with this car (r33 gtst s2). Had any fail? install a headache? (ill be paying someone to do it all ie labour blow outs...)

Do you rate in your opinion as worthwhile ignoring the fact they are considerably cheaping than other options available. Seen many fail? ill spew if i went the cheap option only to have to do it again in 6 months....

Any comments from someone in the trade is appreciated. Im not after massive kw's just something that is up to to task without pushing it to its limits ( as i am now with the stock turbo).

Cheers.

Yeah again every thing is relative the turbo is cheaper but the Hypergear is not a true bolt on as it requires different intake piping and oil lines so it costs a bit more to fit than a GCG but is still within the means of any DIYer. For what you want i would get the smallest highflow and aim for 230rwkw.

Hey I bought A R34 Gtt around 6 months ago. I have already put a Greddy front mount on it and a Kakimoto exhaust.

I was just wondering what other upgrades could I do for under $6000?

That's a bit of cash there.

How many kW's you want :)

Just to name a few.

Boost controller

APexi Power FC

Upgrade upgrade your turbo

You thought about suspension / brake / drivetrain / wheel mods?

Unless you have it.

i like this plan but with a GCG highflow. ease of fitment. i would do it if i were keeping my stagea,

Yeah cause of his power output i said the hypergear, the GCG ones do make more power though.

Well the high flow still using stock housings so they do bolt back with no modifications. The only reason that Daniel's had a different comp housing is because he sold his old turbo and I've built him one with only a turbine housing. For every one who did sent in a complete turbo did fit back the way it was with all fittings bolt up.

Most People chose to have the basic high flow, which is better in response with slightly less on top end. We do have powered up options, and bigger turbine housings at additional costs. its not about we can not high flow a turbo with more power, Its about options that people choice plus amount wish to spent to do this “high flow”.

The test car I bought had 5 cracked pistons, which have wasted lot time. engine's currently overhauled, it will be back n running shortly. Which I will prove results of the latest developments.

P.s. There has been a turbine shaft update in the RB25det high flow profile. should see a power increase without lag. I have 2x customers comming your way Trent, see how they goes.

Follow this guide.

Basically

1) Exhuast

2) Intake

3) Boost controller + upboost

4) ECU upgrade

This is pretty much the limit you can take the stock 34 turbo. Should see anywhere from 240 - 270rwhp out of it.

After this your going to have to get Injectors, Turbo, AFM, Remap and other little things like cams to push the power further which costs a lot more dosh.

    • Hi all,  I am in the market for an R200 longnose diff out of a Z31 300ZX, or S12 RSX, DR30 skyline, or similar, in a 3.9 ratio.  Preferably a late model one with the M12 crownwheel bolts.  The only easy to find advert for one of these was my ad back in 2007 when I sold it on this forum.  I sold the diff as I had sold the car it goes to, but as it turns out, after 18 years I got the car back late last year, so now I'm looking for the diff !  If anyone knows where to find a longnose R200 LSD with the M12 crownwheel bolts, drop me a line at [email protected] - Bonus paid if soomeone comes up with the original diff (stranger things have happened !).  Cheers   Ben D
    • Hi everyone, I used to post here a bit from 2004-2013, when I owned various Nissans, in particular my S12 RSX gazelle, which was sold in 2007.  As luck would have it, after an 18 year hiatus, the car found its way back to me last year, and over the past 11 months I have had the pleasure of restoring it with my kids.  One thing that I am after in particular is a 3.9 ratio R200 LSD for it.  I actually sold the one out of the car here back in 2007 , and it would be incredible if I could track down who I sold it to, so I can see how they have progressed over the years (and to be honest, to see whether I can get the diff back !).  Anyways, hi all and let me know "where are the R200 Longnose diffs all at these days ?  Cheers Ben D
    • Arms will be the same as the G35 or 350Z, but as above, there was a change in the lower control arm where it connects to the ball joint.  That said, you can remove the ball joint cone from your old ball joints and fit them to the new ball joints.  To be honest, I didn't think the ball joints themselves were different. The main ball joint is a bit awkward to replace, you really need to remove the steering knuckle to press out the old one.  Some people have used tools to remove it in place, but it just seemed too hard to get to. If you are going to press out/in that ball joint, then you may as well just replace the bushings in the LCA and the compression rod.  You can buy the compression rod bushing from Nissan, but the LCA bushes, you will need to go aftermarket. Much cheaper than buying the whole arm.
    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
