OR! Tell him to get one of those new Toyota 86s! ;)

They are surprisingly cheap and seem pretty awesome, I must say I'm a big fan of them.

Not enough powah. Wait till they release a turbo version... They totally will.

goes against the philosophy of the 86, it's all balance and handling.

Lets be honest. The only reason the old 86 made it anywhere is because of initial D. Apart from that it was a cheap shitbox that people could drift. And in todays standards of cars its not too much to ask a car competing in the market it is to have a turbocharged option. Whats the point in owning a car that can go around a corner a bit faster than your average if it cant accelerate out of it....

The fact it's so underpowered for what it's competing as is the only reason I dislike them.

As Anthony said, racetracks have straights. My mate who owns one loves it, but hates the fact it's gutless below 4000rpm.

I hear what your saying. But thats the current Toyota philosophy and is fine for your "comuters" and the regular population.

In my opinion It should be optioned up to mix it in the sports classs. Perhaps it may be left up to the enthusiasts to do this - who knows.

It's great to see you post Dan. WB

They should have mate the GTS 5k more and made it a turbocharged option. It's just not quite there in terms of powahhh.

I'm not against seeing it boosted, just can't see how it could be introduced without upsetting their focus and marketing of it. besides, where better to get that boosted feeling than the gtr?

in the end, I think the bean counters will have the final say.

LOL - yeah, I comment about as much as I drive my gtr! must get around to meeting up with you guys some time (I've been sitting around for years...) :)

There isn't any new cars that sit in that cheap, quick market. The 86/BRZ would completely rule it.

My 1998 Prelude VTiR has the same KW's at the fly.

Admittedly its front wheel drive but why would I buy an 86 (spose it is RWD) but other than that - meh

Haven't gone far in over a decade

Exacery. And 40k isn't cheap for a daily bash around drive lol.

    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
