I searched this but didn't find much here .

What is available in the way of elec sender fuel pressure gauges ?

I did read that oil pressure senders don't really like being used for fuel and not long term reliable . My daily has a problem and I think it may be fuel pressure related but it doesn't do it all the time . Need to know if fuel pressure is a problem and later maybe fit to my R33 .

Not a great fan of Autometer , does VDO do anything locally available ?

Thanks in advance , cheers Adrian .

I've got one from Autogauge which seems to be working fairly well - although it's the second one I've had after the first was faulty. The only real problem is they make a stupid noise on start up as part of an "opening sequence". I just took out the buzzer to get rid of it, although this also means no warning tone.

I use and would strongly recommend defi. very high quality, reliable, easy to read and super easy to install. In the grey GTR i use Fuel pressure, Oil pressure (with extra warning light), boost pressure and oil temp. the other benefit of the defi gauges is if you run their boost gauge as well you can hit a button on the controller and it will remove engine vacuum/boost from the fuel pressure guage reading, so basically you should get a constant reading regarldless of boost or vacuum, this makes it very easy to diagnose any fuel supply problems.

they have other good features too, easily adjustable warnings and they can record up to 3 mins of operation and then you can play it back to easily diagnose any problems (can be hard to watch gauges at 200+kmh! but easy to replay in the pits).

see page 102 of the operating manual to understand what I mean about see the base fuel pressure (by eliminating boost/vacuum from the display). it's very handy feature. http://www.defi-shop.com/product/images/dl...anual06064e.pdf

mountainrunner has access to some bosch senders and their calibration curves for datalogging which is very handy!

adrian, I run autometer electic pressure gauges on both race cars and they have been faultless.

but for trouble shooting a problem, a $40 mechanical gauge on the pressure side in the engine bay can not be beaten. In fact for that sort of price I don't know why every modified skyline doesn't have one.

I've used an old-school mechanical oil pressure gauge without any problems.

only if used with a firewall bladder. Ive seen a few outcomes of split mech fuel lines in cabin..... nasty as hell.

Even oil is a bit of a gamble, i remmeber being at winton and tony (biante series) had one burst (braided to) half way down the straight covered the pedals and scalded his legs... evil shit.

indeed - I would only ever use electric senders for in cabin stuff (exept boost, that's pretty safe). Although more expensive they are must safer in terms of senders and plumbing them in

BTW what happened to URAS?

Are you able to purchase only the electric sender? Would very handy for datalogging

delphi and vdo do the senders, ive used delphi (same as motec) for fuel pressure logging with datalogit sensor was around 90-120.

    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow

    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
