Hi guys, Im here to ask you sumthin, I currently drive a 91 honda Civic and have almost done it up mostly over a year or so, but the last thing i wanted to do is put another engine a more powerful one in, So wat i am saying is wat can i put in and wat cant i put in? and also any good cheap peple to fit it for me, Any offers please pm or just reply with them, and if you can help me with drive in, drive out service over a couple of days, its currenlty a 1.5l so anything bigger would be greater, and preferably non turbo but if good price will look at it.

Thanks guys

um... shouldn't u b askin this on a honda forum? coz its close to impossible and financially retarded to swap anything but a honda engine into your car.

If i were you i'd look at putting a BA16a (or B16a i think it was called) engine. Its a common swap for many swaps, and the engine you can import from japan (or buy a 1988 CRX with one in it and bring the car down, swap your engine into it and sell the car).

As for costs... hehe how much have you got? Its not cheap.

In my opinion, I think you are asking on the wrong forum. The best engine to transplant into a 91 civic is a 454 chev big block 'plug & play' package. It will bolt straight in on the standard engine mounts and will mate up to your standard gearbox without the need for a custom bellhousing. It should take you less than 3 hours to do all the work yourself. The tools required for the job are (1) shifting spanner (2) phillips head screwdriver (3) flat blade screwdriver (4) big hammer (5) small hammer (6) band-aids (7) jack (8) KY jelly (9) 9 volt battery (10) goat (11) jumper leads (12) nipple clamps. A step by step guide to the conversion is available at www.noidea.net complete with pictures.

LOL

Maybe a FWD SR20DET (maybe not available, but I know CA18DETs are) or SR20VE. Both are pretty good engines. Personally I'd sell the Honda and buy a Nissan, but that's just me.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
