bubba
I am wondering what the operational differences between 32 GTR and 33 GTR (or GTS4 if that's different to 33 GTR). Basically, I believe my Stag has a 33 GTS4 setup which runs a 5% preload. What I think I know: 32R no preload, polls 10x a second 33R/GTS4 5% preload, polls 100x a second What I would like to know: Are the sensors all the same between models? Is the preload mechanical? (built into the clutchpacks) or is it the control unit feeding pressure into the system to maintain the minimum 5% preload? What I am trying to figure out is, can I swap in a 32R control unit and still have the system operate the same minus the 5% preload? Duncan
AFAIK....yes! the difference is in the pump on the diff and the computers...I am pretty sure that the xfer case is the same. I have a 32 gtr transfer case in mine. blind_elk
On the other side, is it possible to install a 33 ECU into a 32 - if just for the increased polling frequency - and have it work correctly? heller44
bubba, I am now running a 33gtr transfer case on a 32gtr box. The rest of the system can't help you with though. bubba
Cheers for the replies guys, I might try pick up a 32gtr control unit and pump and see how it goes! Cheers elky, I guess if what I want to try works, then that will probably mean what you want to do will work too.. it's not going to happen tomorrow but when I do get around to doing it I will post up whether it works or not Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/304714-what-is-the-difference-between-32r-and-33r33gts4-atessa-systems/#findComment-5056037 Share on other sites
heller44
Just a thought, see if there is a residual hydraulic pressure with the 33 module and then with the 32 module.. You don't really want to be throwing it in, thinking it works, but still having some preload if it is the hydraulic pack above the diff that is the difference. *edit - thought you were using the 33 pump. Also do you know if there are any pinout changes from 32 to 33 modules? Might not be a straight swap.. only thoughts of what if.. I would like a faster reacting attessa myself. bubba
Can't answer those questions yet mate I am going to start with my mates 32 GTS4 computer, see if it plugs in. If it does, I'll put car on hoist and put it in gear, see if front wheels spin. If they don't (and I don't get any error codes etc.) then it should be good to go! If the front wheels do spin, then I will look at swapping in a 32 pump and go from there. DVS JEZ
my old gtr i blew 2 r32 gtr boxes, my 3rd was a 33 box and it wouldnt spin 2nd gear as easy, would just spin and grip up alot more, so im thinking its actually preload on the clutch packs Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/304714-what-is-the-difference-between-32r-and-33r33gts4-atessa-systems/#findComment-5058455 Share on other sites
