So who is doing the Bathurst six hour this April?

We have a team of six cars going. Can't wait!

Any other SAU members signed up?

Hey Duncan, We had a team of 4 entered in November, got our refund last week - this was a request by all members of the team - as entries were supposed to have been finalised before December and we had heard nothing from organisers - it is all good - used that entry fee to enter World Superlap - at EC in May.

Ahh that's disappointing. Any other reason why you pulled out? i think they've changed the format and regs quite a bit.

Duncan, Can I ask what cars are in your team??

SSCC will be up there we have two teams entered...But my third got knocked back due to the cars in the team being to fast :)

I will be up there helping out..get to check out the control room and meet some of the Race Legends :P

Cars entered are 2xR35's, 2xEvo's (quick ones) and 2x LSX V8's

The speed argument is interesting, yesterday i got this bulletin from them

I heard mention of a rumour about Porsche bringing a lot of "fire

breathing" monsters to the Mountain that might carve up other drivers

and spoil your event.

Firstly, let me reassure that will not happen.

Porsche Cars of Australia gave us the confidence to establish this event

by supporting us with entries from Porsche clubs and even themselves

before we went public ...... and for that alone I am totally grateful!

Take it form me, Porsche Cars Australia is probably the most safety

conscious car company I know and have dealt with and they definitely

won't have any "crazies" in Porsches at Bathurst.

And secondly, as a result of them gaining more entries than both they

and we expected, we are offering them a totally separate event from the

one you will be competing in.

So scrap all those fears and believe us that without their input we

wouldn't be communicating right now about Bathurst and about you looking

forward to having a few fabulous days in Easter.

Those of you who know FoSC know safety is paramount, so it's not

surprising we like the Porsche's style, and anyway guys -

We run no-contact events.

My Best Regards

Charles Jardine

I spoke to them ealier in the piece about entering, and fairly quickly had the idea that "pushing the limits" would not be tolerated, so I very quickly lost interest. I'm not one to cruise around, and I fail to see how a track side marshal or pit wall official would be in a position to know when I was at or nearing the limit.

I do however hope it's a wonderful event, I know several people going and if all goes well I'd hope to join in next year :P

I suppose being a regularity style event, it's not meant to be about outright speed. I am sure it will not stop some trying though..

For most it will be a (very inexpensive) way to try out the mountain at speed.

Yeah I wasnt overly impressed with the team getting knocked back but can understand why..Is the 2 x R35 the white one???

Will be my first time working with Charles Jardine I know the other members of the team well...They do like the classic stuff more than the modern :)

All the best Duncan sure you will do well and have a whale of a time...Definately worth the dollars to taste the mountain :(

Have you seen porsche drivers Duncan!!!!....I rest my case LOL :D

To be frank i have no idea what porsche people they are talking about. But if it's the porsche club some of them do a flat minute around wakefield, 1:12's at OPGP and 1:35's at EC.

I'm confused!

If you nominate a time, how do you know what time your going to do as not many people in the past have done a full lap!

I could say 5m:30 and do it at 80km max! haha

but that wouldnt be fun.

Chris,

you nominate your time from other tracks too. (EC, Wakefield, OP, PI, etc etc)

Chris,

A couple of things - Firstly, in 35 years of motorsport, and most tracks bitumen and / or dirt, personally I would never nominate any other track time v's Bathurst.

Secondly, Chris slow down a little bit and you will have a good average and no dent's, but around the 2.30 is very enjoyable

Thirdly - Duncan, wish you all the best, you have our contact details, be warned - Bathurst has more concrete than Sydney tunnel, as a resident for 25 years on Griffins Bend! it is true - this is one of Aussies best tracks, but bar a few - it is untammed to date!!

Its there to enjoy, hope all entered get the track time promised.

I will be about, if we can assist anyone, send us a PM

hmm interesting event, but with my other club (combined touring cars) we have decided not to enter. Keeping in mind that is a genuine racing club there was too much concern about driving standards in that category.

we may run a seperate support class instead but won't be entering the L2S event.

and for what it's worth, personally I don't think there should be an L2S event at Bathurst. I understand the argument for regularity events at most tracks sort of, but not there. 40 cars on the track where the only requirement was filling in a form and sending in $100? It would not have been a big deal to require an "observed license test" for every driver and making them get a proper license.

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
