Have a look at where the marker is on the lap plot in post #14. Like I said it feels a little 'daunting' to drive, but I have some more mods planned this week which should see the car stable at 1.4G continuous through there, and hopefully another 10km/h faster :P

Here is the G-Circle for the car Fungoolie. As you can see it has some grip, but it could be better!

Ahhh, so cute, a heart shaped G plot graph :P))

Since you are getting up to 0.9G in left handers and 1.3ish G in right handers does that mean right handers are on camber, or it simple means that left handers are not suited for faster corner speeds??

You're reading it the wrong way. Acceleration and braking are along the Y axis and lateral acceleration is along the X axis.

Designed up and fabricated a front splitter for the GTR over the past few days. Making it rigid and them mounting it properly to take force across its section was a little harder than first thought, but we have a result that should provide a good aero balance at high speed now :D

Pics later :)

Willall Racing just ran a 1 min 12.19 at Mallala today in their JDM R35 GTR.

Faster than the group A R32 GTR!

Congratulations Keir & Martin. You guys are flying now.

E85 looks like the way to go, when are you going to fit the bigger turbos?

Wish I was there................. oh well. I will keep working.

ha

but there is a massive diffrence to 40 laps at that pace and a one off

agreed - consistent times are much harder than 1 off times BUT i still want an r35 :)

1 day...it is coming

3 sec difference so there isnt much in it

  • 4 weeks later...

New PB today testing the front Splitter and our new Braking System on the GTR

In 35 degree conditions and on a used tyre set we reset the 1:12.19 to 1:12.10.....very tight.

On a similar day to the first record we could expect to drop that time 0.5 or so. The Mallala 11s are in sight for us soon

  • 2 months later...

In much colder conditions (where we have found it is harder to gain outright tyre grip with the GTR tyre set we use) we upped the ante again today with a 1:11.68 at Mallala, a neat improvement, and with some direction now to start steering the car towards a 1:10 second lap :(

Yes, yes we did run a new tyre set, however we struggle with the GTR in the cold ambients (around 10C taking into account the wind factor today, and track temp under 21C most of the day). Grip is very hard to find in these conditions, we find the GTR likes 32 - 35C ambient with the 60C track temps that it delivers. Its extremely important to set the bump and rebound rates of the suspension correctly to get the tyre working on the track to suit the conditions....we are learning more about the R35 chassis every day :(

Its not surprising that your gtr is quicker in mid 30degree than a much cooler day...it was the same when I was racing bikes, higher temp gave more grip whereas a cooler day gave more power and grip is king on the circuit

    • Mixing things up - installed some leather recaros to match the leather seat covered rear seats. Interior looks pretty schmick now except for some slight wear on the steering wheel which I will monitor and address if it becomes worse or actually noticeable!
    • Didnt realise RB's had more then 1 head.
    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
