Greetings all!

Man, its been a while since ive postied anything on here and a fare bit has gone on. So this is Shepo's update.

Well ive sold by Subaru Liberty (probably silly of me) and ive baught a nice little Honda S2000 as a daily runner. She's a beaut! Almost enough power, great cornering abilities, you can take the roof off on a nice day, AND it get less than 10L per 100KM!!! what more could you want from a car? (maybe a bigger boot... :) )

On a sadder note. My GTR needs an engine rebuild. ive finally worn it out after all these track days. so unfortunatley its going to spend the next year or so under a cover in the garage while i try to put away the coin to pay for the job. this has annoyed me somewhat as i was planing on doing quite a number of events this year. thems the brakes!

i spose my next question is what do you guys think i should do with the motor? im up in the air at the moment. i want a fairly large amount of power, but i want it to be reliable at the same time. so im thinking do i just rebuild it as is, or maybe go for a stroker kit. my other thought is sourcing a 3.0l bottom end and doing that.

any suggestions?

cheers,

Matty.

lol TJ bored kent.

Matty 2.8L stroker with 2860 -5's will give you close to 400rwkw and nice responsive usable power :)

sounds good to me, just need to get the 7 od grand for the kit plus whatever else i need. ooh its gonna be a long process... :(

Sorry to read about the dramas Matt.

As for what you should do with the motor - that will depend on the coin you have to spend and the power that you want out of it. Sorry if it sounds like that not much help at all but that is what it comes down to. There is a list over a mile long of the mods you can do to these engines during a rebuild so what you end up with will be a balance between coin, power and reliability.

gonna be honest here....

you will eventually take the s2k to a track day.... then you are gonna want to mod it... and you will...

soooooooo

work out what you wanna do there, and factor that into your costs aswell

i want about 400kw. im thinking about 15 od grand. am i far off? im not too sure, ive been through a rebuild process before... :)

as for the S2k, yeah im gonna do a track day with to see how it goes, but i know that it will never go as quick as the GTR. and if i want it to come close i will need to spend a ridonkulas amount of money! the S2k is just my cruiser. :P

Rebuild alone will cost you 15k, if you don't have the bolt ons to make 400kw allow for more.

Allow another 20k to make the car go fast around a track (suspension, brakes, wheels, tyres etc....)

Bloody money pits!!!! :)

S2k's with a GTRS or T518z are a pretty sweet thing :) 220rwkw and safe as houses....we had a vortech charged one in not to long ago and it was like a t0z on a mira.... not nice.

15k would get you a killer engine and turbo package, about 12k for the stroker (new top to bottom), 2.2-2.5k for new -5's etc..

thanks mate, the S2 is good fun to drive, i want to do a track day with it just to see how it goes.

Everyone says that driving a modded Honda around a smallish track is the most fun you could have for cheaps.

Bloody hell I think I'm just going to forget that R34GTR and replace my Honda with an S2K, a really modded S2K.

ive pretty much got all the bits i need - turbo's, fuel pump, injectors... its really just the motor.

the turbo's are 2860-5's only about 12 months old. 700cc apexi injectors, nismo fuel pump, ARC intercooler and so on...

Just put an RB20 in the GTR for daily duties and use the honda for the track! Sorry...

On a serious note. Just do a cheaper rebuilt (without stroker - 400kw - $$$) and just keep it going. If you upgrade to 400kW's you'll need 7k brakes, 5k suspension, 2k tyres etc to use it. Depends on how far you want to go. I think of Gareths (roudyr32) GTR with his 200 and something kw's doing 1:52's at PI on street tyres.

To me a car to have on the track is better than a car sitting in the garage to someday hit the track again.

Track time in any car = FUN!

hopefully i will be getting a company car soon too. 3 cars, parking could become an issue...

3 cars is nothing.

When you hit 6 it gets trickier

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
