do they have to say what car he was driving...seriously

reading the article all i saw was:

the man was driving on the wrong side of the road the man was reaching speed upto 180km then then man driving a NISSAN SKYLINE omfg. those two words stick out like crazy through the whole article

no, you read what YOU WANT TO READ most people would read that and go what an idiot that'd be the end of it, pretty sure 45 year olds working with kids have more to worry about then NISSAN SKYLINE'S in the paper they probaly wouldnt know much about the things.

so dont be so selective and you wont cry so badly over it.

mmmm black S2 R33 with a nismo middle screen dash parked in our carpark.

sadly, its not mine

nismo HUD is balls. its like using a gameboy advance. 1990's tech. awesome if you get it in your car, but not worth anything if you have to pay extra for it.

no actually they do use it for a reason.

it paints a more vivid image in a persons mind knowing they were driving what is considered a "sports" car.

especially one so widley painted as a young hoons car as a skyline.

otherwise they wouldnt mention it.

its typical of any descriptive/reporting style writing... and you obviously havent listened to much AM talkback radio have you? There are copious amounts of people 45 and over who have nothing better to do then listen or read about shit like this and have a whinge because they have nothing better to do while their kids are at school.

Naivety is common place among generalisations and opinion as fact.

But keep thinking thats the case.

Christ, these people are the demographic that most newspapers, ACA type shows and AM radio stations target. They get bombarded with it and if they didnt know, they do when they read and listen to this stuff.

My parents knew what a skyline was before i did... how old do you think people are that grew up around the Bathurst killing GTR error? I was about 10 when these things were going around the track and destroying everything.

for f**k f**king sake. car failed RWC cause windscreen has minor sandblasting and headlights needs polishing

SIGH

Least yours isnt as bad as mine Ash.

Yes, thats bog over the struts, yes their completely rusted underneath.

Thoughts guys? Not gonna be cheap and dunno how our mechanics gonna fix it. How the f**k do both strut towers completely rust and someone decides to Bog over the top to cover it up.

PS. Yeah, thats what happens when you dont research enough, please dont tell me I'm an idiot I already know that, just gotta find a way to get this done now.

yip read an article where the car involved wasn't what is considered a 'hoon' car and they barely mention it, or mention it once and refer to it from then on as 'the vehicle' etc...

If it's anything Japanese it usually gets repeated mentions, and if it's a 'high powered' ford/holden, it gets repeated as well.

They're targeting the typical f**kwits that watch ACA/TT/similar propaganda, and it doesn't take much to get them fired up..

sorry but LOL

is it only surface rust??? if so then not hard to fix as most imports will have surface rust. have a look inside you boot where you spare wheel well is. you will have rust there also. sand it back then grind and paint?

i understand mine isnt bad but its just soooooo annoying. small things like this holding back from a road worthy. 90% of the cars on the road will have sand blast on their windscreens so does that mean they are un-roadworthy as well?

I'm surprised how many of you guys are only realising how much a lot of the mainstream media beats shit up by the coverage of 'hoon' stories!

A good rule of thumb IMO is that if the paper or tv show has any mention of celebrity bullshit within the first 5 pages or 10 minutes, then it's likely going to be sensationalist bullshit. It seems that an ever growning number of baby boomers mainly have nothing else to fill their lives with than whinging about things on the news and keeping up with who's f**king who in hollywood.

Not quite sure, all our mechanic said was Major Structural rust in the strut towers and might have to form up some steel and replace them so I doubt it's gonna be surface rust, dont quite know how the f**k that can happen inside the struts but okay, not gonna be cheap though.

lmao, who inspected that car before buying it, its the dodgiest cover up job ever.

Myself and my father drove interstate for it and we didn't have the time to take it to a mechanics, buyers remorse I suppose, I didn't do enough research because to me at the time it looked stock lolol, stupid huh. Live and learn, it'll be fixed eventually.

its not colour matched

the spotwelds have sunken in (are they even spotwelded?)

there are cracks in the bog (this one's probably the worse offense)

the silicone lining is just slopped on (has to look like factory if you wanna pass inspections)

there is no way in hell that's ever gonna pass a vicroads or roady inspection in that state. your best bet is to take it to a panel beater that specialises in VIV clearances, as they'll have a better idea about what it takes to make a car pass those inspections.

    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
