Probably had his dad in the passenger seat.. Now that is hektic.

Hmm.. Think I will go visit Vu this week. Cbf finding another panel shop as cheap as DT's. If they don't get it right then I'll just complain until they do.. They did a great job on my last car anyway.

ffs, you're hellbent on halfarsing everything on your car aren't you?

It was the cheapest GenIII MR2 I could find. So yeah I'm trying to save money where I can. I just want the kit on and the rust removed. It's not really a hard job. DT's did a great job on my old MR2. I seriously couldn't fault it.

It doesn't need to be perfect. It's had a SHIT respray already. Like overspray in the wheel wells and stuff haha

If you're getting a respray then maybe you should get your balls in a bunch and pay a little extra to pump those guards out as far as they'll go (ie take it to a panelbeater) so you can tuck your wheels in.

I'm not going to respray the car. Just gonna fit the kit and be done with it.

Not going for rear spacers anymore. Just leaving it as is. I've realised that I'm actually happy with how it sits and that trying to please other people (i.e. sau wasteland) is just a waste of time/money.

I will try to get the fronts pumped a bit though. Vu's people could do that though yeah?

Billy JB HI FI have fairly good prices on laptops, when I got mine I looked at a lot of computer shops and traveled to get it.. when really for pretty much the same price could of just gone to local JB.

Stay away from HP seen too many friends get issues with there HP laptops, stick with Asus or something. As for what hardware to get.. hard to say really not sure what $1k will get you now days as its always changing just make sure you get a decent CPU.

well any painter who properly paints cars will want to blend it into the rest of the panels anyways, so when they quote, they won't just quote for painting the kit, they'll also quote to paint up to fold lines on neighbouring panels. so regardless your quarters will get painted partially, which means you might as well get them pumped while you're at it.

that's how a proper painter would do it anyways, dunno if you get that much attention to detail when you slum it.

if you've ever seen a car with different panels that have slightly different shades or pearls, it's because neighbouring panels haven't been blended. if you didn't do the original job you won't know what colour basecoat was used, what blend was used for the clear, what composition of pearls etc... which is why any good painter will insist on blending.

umm ipad is good funky, well for me its good for work overall its fair useless but a laptop isnt convenient for me.

i drive everywhere, I don't commute on PT, when I'm at home I'm either on the PC or doing stuff that don't involve PC's or watching TV. I have an iPad, but I use it for developing apps. I tried watching movies on it, and it sucks at it. I tried reading a book on it and it sucks at that too. It's only good for playing iphone games on a slightly bigger screen.

also mad homo move to buy an ipad now when they just released the patents to the next version.

nah for me and my work the ipad is perfect, i dont use it for movies and games and shit theres a real estate app. for OFI's and stuff so good for that and presentations/pitching for business the interent is quick and its much less cumbersome than pulling out a laptop.

for all intents and purposes a laptop is a superior option in every way BUT this is convenient and the 2-3 things i use it for its fine.

email/calender/work

yeah our sales people use ipads to do pitches and show book designs and manuscripts as well. useless for browsing interwebs though, like post whoring on forums and shit.

Agreed. HP suck balls.

Acer on the cheaper end of the scale, Asus are slightly more expensive. Both are great. I've had my $600 Acer laptop for nearly three years. I drop it all the time, throw it around and generally abuse the crap out of it. Still perfect.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
