Do you have any recommendations to make while I'm in Tokyo? I want to check out as much jap car stuff as possible, drifting etc. Let me know your thoughts!

dont go to tokyo if you want to experience car stuff outside the show :P

hellaflush watch! <3

nice :)

SSR Profs aren't as good as Work Meister S1 3Ps, in that the profs aren't modular wheels.

the man speaks truth

haha pwnd hard. i still find it hilaaaarious that none of the boys sporting skittles coloured fibreglass speedboats and big fuck off shiny mods never get done so hard, yet you, mr under the radar with tasteful mods for super hektic trackdays only gets shafted.

ahahahah

exedy single plate button clutches are cheap and will do the job

HDBC HHDBC or HHHDBC

i run an HHHDBC and for the price it's an awesome bit of kit... not the best for a daily driver, but quite livable when you are used to it.

The one I've got now isn't too bad. Absolute killer in peak hour traffic but a good clutch for launching and shit

Wouldn't mind something a bit softer..

How much would one of those clutches cost me? Gotta watch my spending. New gearbox is gonna be $1500+ and I figure I may aswell chuck the new clutch in at the same time.

isn't this your first manual? wear out your existing clutch before you go upgrading. why are you upgrading g/box anyways?

~$700 i spose....

i got mine wholesale but cant get for others

the organic one that krysisisyysisisiu has in his car is lighter and only a few dollars more, but wont hold as much torque... bu i think you'll find that the MR2 wont need more than an HDBC

kris' feels like lead after being used to my stock clutch tho so depends on what u consider light lol

Nah, not my first manual. And my clutch is stuffed. My mechanic said I need a new one and seeing as I'm changing the gearbox it would make sense to do it at the same time.

I'm not really "upgrading" mine. Just getting a replacement. Mine is shagged beyond repair.

Yes I do. Shoot me your email address and I'll send you a copy of my 2009 itinerary (I didn't do so much in my 2010 trip.) Don't bother buying a Japan Rail Pass unless you're crossing Japan, you won't use it enough in Tokyo to make it worth it.

Yeah, it's true. The only other carsy stuff we did in Tokyo outside of Autosalon was Toyota Mega Web and History Museum (the history museum is free and worth it to see some rare cars.) Super Autobacs Tokyo Bay, make sure you visit the upstairs bookshop for rare Japanese sales brochures, manuals, magazines, books and posters on nearly any car you can think of. Nismo Factory, don't bother, you can't really see anything and they have more merchandise on sale at Autosalon.

icic

imho just get an exedy HDBC as they are the cheapest performance clutches worth installing

not the best for daily but good for motorsport aplications. nothing fancy to make it driver freindly... just a button clutch.

will take the power your car will be puting down

nothing special, but finally bought rims for the rolla again......bolt on flares here we come

how much did shipping end up being? Obviously not the initial $1200 quote :)

haha costed me $220 all up with rims

his sending them to a depot in LA where ive got a mate that brings in his stuff from there

and my mate not charging me to ship it here :)

get the button if you want to do track days or drive it hard. i have a HHDB (i think, might be 3 Hs) and when i went to the SAU drag day it was faultless. punished it all day and it didn't complain one bit.

took a bit of getting used to, but now i love it.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
