Yeah the 1:06 didn't materialise, perhaps next round in 2 weeks. 1:07.07 is still a PB for me so pretty happy.

Congrats to Duncan for new record for type 4 and class 4D.

Neil laid down a quick time also, and I see from the rounds so far the lap times are coming down. Well done Neil.

Regards

Mark

Congrats guys, heaps of PB's all round yesterday. Very lucky with the weather again too, it was sensational.

I had wheel issues (cracked two rims) so my day was cut short at 11am unfortunately. Relaxed and watched the action instead.

Who's in for the next round there in two weeks?

Mark,,,14th is way cool mate,,,very,very impressive. Have a look at the cars you are beating tiger.

My times are okay,,,but I should be all over Duncan like a hot rash but the motor I'm running has more neutrals than forward gears.

Stuart better go quicker,,,I'm getting closer to you mate.

Time to start building my own engine.

Brian's R100 sounds so sweet at full song,,,I love that car.

See you guy's in a fortnight.

Cheers

It may sound sweet but its slow :) , i thought there was somthing wrong when i put my foot down the first time on the stright after driving the GTR at superlap.

Hey guys,

Im keen to give supersprints a go, and am just trying to work out what category I fit in to.

I have a 87 HR31 GTS with a RB30DET that has been completely striped out, no cage yet, and from what I’ve read in the cams manual I think it will be eligible for 3J. Is this correct?

Also, so in regards to cages, am I able to have a one from bonds or whoever else is cams approved and not have to be log booked?

Thanks

Hi there James,

Supersprinting is so much fun!

Is the car road registered? This has a pretty important bearing on which class you can run in.

If your car is not road registered, most likely you will have to run in Class 4D (sports sedans)

3J in the supersprint = Class 3D (improved production) but being turbo you need to run a restrictor and meet 3J rules as per cams manual.

For unregistered cars, the scrutineers like you to have the car log booked to ensure it meets safety standards. So get a cams spec cage like you said, (bond bolt in will do fine) and then download logbook paperwork from cams. After that, arrange a scrutineer to inspect your car at a round of the series.

Briefly, the supersprint classes work like this:

Type is split up into : 1,2,3,4,5 & SV

1 = stock standard car

2 = small mods, suspension, exhaust

3 = More mods than type 2, but in line with 3J cams rules

4 = More mods than type 3

5 = Open wheel or really fast race cars like radicals

SV = engineered or import cars that are road registered, think supra, GTR etc.

Then, they split you up on capacity, A,B, C, & D

A = 0-1600cc

B = 1601-2000cc

C = 2000-3000cc

D = 3000cc and over

If turbo/supercharged then have to multiply capacity by 1.7

*edit* you guys are too quick... posting before i can even get a question up :thumbsup:

Oh, ok.

Are these the regs you guys go by? Or is there another set you can point me in the direction of?

Thanks

James as Mark said it's great fun. Usually it's 3 flying laps (sometimes 4 sometimes 5 and I've even done 10 minute sessions) so it's basically qualifying. Sure there's no door to door stuff and you are not actually allowed to race one another,,,but I have been known to slam the radical down the inside on many occasions.

Neil.

thanks guys.

Had a bit more of a read and yep, looks like 4D for me. Hope they dont mind mobile islands:)

The car has been in the build for the last two years, nothing epic, with the aim of entering DA. Im ace with my timing.

With drift in NSW giving its death rattle with Oran, i've decided to try something else.

Don't be put off. I have to run in 4D as well and it's only a 200kw silvia with all metal panels and zero aero work. There are plenty of road cars out there with more mods than my track S13.

I've been sandwiched between two full blown sports sedans going through turn 1 at eastern creek and still came out in one piece!

Sure they were quicker but over 4-5 laps they didn't lap me. I think they did like 1:39's-1:40's and I did 1:47's

There are still plenty of cars you find company with doing similiar lap times.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
