Spraying Rear Quarter - Pls Help!

If I need to get my rear quarter panel sprayed to get rid of some scratches, I was wondering how this is done.

Because of the design of the r33's (and all skylines) there is not actual join where the spray can stop cos the panel continues onto the roof and all over to the oher side of the car.

How is this done, would they stop somewhere and try to "blend" it into the orig paint?

Has anyone had this done? If so, how does it look?

Surely this doesn't mean tht half of the car needs to be sprayed to fix one quarter Panel!!!??

Okay yes they do blend it in that is one of the most common ways to do it and the best looking in one way or another. Depends on what colour the car is as well as over time paint fades etc which would show up on a black car for example. Most cases the darker the car the worse it will show up. With white cars its usally very hard to spot it.

over time we are talking over a couple years 2-3 or so depends how much time it spends in the hot sun. Its not bad that your car is black just its more possible for it to turn up (no spray painter can guarantee) it could or it might not be visible. They usually spray most of the rear quarter panel eg. half the car they usally stop before they get to the roof section.

Keeping your car out of the hot sun when parking etc also helps and keeping it polished and waxed up helps protect it abit.

Personally a silver car would be more of a problem hence the fact they have multiple colours etc in the silver paint which is almost impossible to match perfectly, which usally can show up after the spray has been done with a silver car blend if you look carefully.

How bout this dilemma,

Youve just had ure entire car resprayed in a nice silver/blue pearl. 2 days later, the person that lives next door, reverses into your rear 1/4.

Now, do you just get the rear 1/4 done, or, do u get both rear 1/4s done as well as the roof, as this will leave no blending marks.

I wasn't impressed to say the least.

Dude sorry to hear that. I was speaking to the guys where u got the paint job done (in penrith). Were u happy with the result?

If I were u I would be speaking to the guys that did your paint job and get their opinion. If its not too bad then u might be lucky and they will blend it. But either way i would be making the neighbour pay for it.

FK oath they'll be paying...the dude said he would, so ill give him a call tomorrow with the quote...better not cause me problems...meh anyway...

Ive actually been away since i got my car back and havn't gone thru *everything* yet. Ive given it a quick look over and its been great. Top work done by Trev and I'd easily say hes been the best sprayer ive dealt with (both quality craftsmanship and attitude/personality etc). Ill be dropping it off there tomorrow so if ure close, go down and take a look....If not i can email u pics that ive taken (not the best, but may give u an idea...). I'd go back without a doubt and all future cars ill put through him as well.

sounds about right.

im planning on getting my front bar, mirrors, rear bar, and now maybe rear quarter done. freshen it up, and i scraped my front car which is the main reason ;)

What colour is your car? i need some bits done and if its the same colour as mine we could get it cheaper together.

      So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel

      When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?

      Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.

      If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
