R33 S1 light problems (park lights, S2Wing lights, fog lights = don't work)

Recommended Posts

hey!

I seem 2 be finding more and more problems with my skyline as time goes on :D but i can live with it.

will 2day i was checking my lights and i found about 3problems.

1st:

The lights in my S2 Wing don't work - now it isnt a problem with the wiring or anything like that (that was check and there is current flowing through it) so the lights inside the wing arnt work  my question is where can i get a replace lights set (as i am guessing you just replace the hole thing not just the light in side it)

would it be cheaper 2 buy a s2 wing and just take out the led night thingo and replace it with mines.

2nd:

My park light on the right side of my car is blown (doesnt work) where can i find a replacment globe (can i replace it with those blue lights) also how do you get it out - i try 2 have alook 2night but it was getting dark and i couldn't see how 2 get it out

3rd:

I have a nismo front bar (photo at http://www.pbase.com/13_devil) and it has a set of lights on it, it looks like it has lights inside it other than the turning yellow ones, (look like fog lights) problem is i don't know how 2 turn them on, should they just turn on or do i need 2 wire up a switch? (i couldnt see where the wiring was going from the fogs lights as like i said above it was getting dark)

thanks mike

p.s i am going to morely 2morrow before i start work any place i can go 2 pick up those park lights?

the front bar lights that are larger and clear which are supposed to light up according to some people definately do not light up

the reason i am sure is because these blinkers have been pulled from another line which i have no doubt has the "special stalk" which has the fog light switch built into it. Alot of owners will tell you that they cant get the lights to light up either but that i believe is because alot of line have been in accidents and they just get replaced with any front bar lights that can be found.

i did a search of the forums when i picked the car up and came to the conclusion that the car needs a different steering column (headlight) stalk in order to work. The solution would be to hook up another switch to the wiring loom that is coming from the back of the fog light portion of the indicator and that should do it.

Paul at Autoworx in wangara is able to fix the rear light very cheaply but you will need to uncrew the led and pull it apart so that he can replace a part in it that burns out and then it works.

the hard part is heating up the glue that binds it and then pulling it apart.

I ran out of time to do this. but it is easily fixed and you dad will be able to fix it.

Paul said if I wanted he could show me the part that needed changing. It like a $20 repair

the lens cost etc is very expensive brand new through nissan, which is why he tried to see how it can be fixed. especially because the light cannot be swapped with a series 1, cos I have a series 1 that works but he said its no good.

the park lights can be bought from most places, but Aspec in perth has some cool blue super bright LED ones, that give off a blue/silver tinge, but they arent as super bright as you would expect.

very nice and rice though.

i think $10 a pair

that should answer all your questions.

phew that was hard work

thanks riaz :D,

I think i will give the fog like wiring a go 2morrow- i think it will be hard as i cant get under the car (dame it is too low  ) but i was thinking of wiring the fog lights 2 that switch that doesnt do anything in the middel (u know the 1 i am talking about)

i think i will just get a the white light park lights - dont have the time or money to get the ricer stlye ones (and dont really want them 2)

(riaz would you be able to find out the part that needs 2 be fix as im sure my dad could get it from his work and then we will just fix it)

dude,

what you're after with the fog light (make sure they are lights as most of the cars Ive seen dont actually have the lights - they just look like they do) is a relay.

then you should be able to run the lights straight off the battery without loading up the rest of your electrics.

solution to all your problems

bring it to an auto electrition. There was once the contact lead thingy for my front headlight switch was loose so they did everything for me.I sent my car to the one opposite DALCOS panel and paint somewhere near welshpool/bentley

sorry to hear your finding a few things wrong with ya car... when i bought mine i also found a few minor LITTLE things that need fixing here and there (like the fact i dont even have a dimmer switch for the dash, thers just a hole where it used to be? wierd ass .... anyone know where i can get one ?)

also, without hijacking the thread (as it is also about headlights), how hard is it to angle my headlights downwards a bit, ive heard the lights can be angled cus at the moment mine look like high beams cus it shines right into other drivers eyes rather than down onto the road. (Dont they Strich9ine :D )

Yeah, Mirkz, your lights piss me off :)

As for the dimmer switch... if you didnt have one, and you didnt have a hole I'ld give you my whole dash facia. I disconnected my dimmer anyway. I wanna remove it, but I don't wanna be stuck with a giant hole!

ahaha kym,

yeah help me angle the bastards downwards if u know how next time were out n about.

and with the dimmer switch, mine has been there previously, but no longer exists (just a hole in the dash :P ) ive looked for wiring that would have been connected to it and cant find anything either so i dunno.

ahhh k cheers zanda but i aint good with electronics ... so i will have to get someone else to do it 4 me :P

my car is also missing the manual start button (the one under the keyhole).

but im not TOO fussy about that cus it makes it that lil bit easier for me to start.

    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
    • My experience with Rising Sun Exports Before agreeing to the sale I tried to do as much research as I could (obviously), his Facebook reviews are 98% and he goes Live at least once or twice a week. I contacted 2 people in the UK who had used him for their imports, both had positive feedback. His explanation and talk through of the import process was thorough, answering any query no matter how stupid it was. It felt as soon as the money was sent, communication dropped off. I asked for shipping updates every 2 weeks or so, not wanting to pester him, he never had any updates. I wasn't informed the car had been dropped off at the port, I only found out by his Facebook story. I asked for the photos taken at the port, knowing he would need some for insurance purposes. I received a few 5 second clips and that's it. When asked again, he said his staff had them. Weeks later I asked again, he tells me he doesn't have any, but does have 50 photos from the original advert. I never received them. I eventually got the documents sent via WhatsApp after I mentioned the port was requesting them. I purchased a CarVX report, to find out the vehicle is a Grade R with recorded accident damage, first recorded in 2017 when it was first auctioned. He never told me the grade, then again I didn't ask. His response was "Grade R means nothing, it wasn't chassis damage". Still, I would have liked to have been informed about it. Jon prides himself on being open and honest when it comes to inspecting cars, it's his main job doing so at the auctions for customers. When the vehicle arrived in the UK I noticed a few little cosmetic issues. It's a 21 year old car so it wasn't going to be mint condition. The side skirts are cracked on each corner and the sealant is failing. The front grill on the bonnet/hood isn't secured very well, mounting studs are missing. Both minor things, but again, it would have been nice to be told. During a Facebook Live walk around video of the vehicle, he mentioned it has a front Whiteline anti roll bar/sway bar. While on the inspection ramp, I noticed the stock item has been installed. When first questioned, his response was "the ARB? Switched? Since when, it never had them". Since sending video and photo evidence I've not received a response. I'm probably being over critical of the overall condition of an old car, but all I wanted was honesty (which he claims to have). I'm aware I wasn't his only customer, he's busy doing XYZ but other reviews praise him for great communication with regular updates and photos, I felt I didn't receive the same treatment.
