I'm in agreement with you on putting more on duty in the city at night, but the amount of dangerous driving I see around my area more cops would be a blessing. The more visible they are hopefully the less people will drive like wankers.

i wish they'd get rid of all these cars with no brake lights.. does my fkn head in! way more dangerous then my road scrapingly low car..

damn streetracers :)

I wasnt even racing. I pulled up next to them at the lights, and i could sense that they were looking at the car. Lights go green - and i hesitate for a second to see if they will go firs,t but they didnt. so I went - got up to about 80 (speed limit), changed to the left lane, and they put the red n blue on. They just checked the plates (if it was registered to me), did a breath test etc - the cop was a nice guy though - think it made his day when i told him i stopped drinking about 4 months ago (not that i drank much or often anyway).

Thats pretty f**king bad. One of my dads mates was like that, even went to jail for 3 months after being done for multiple (more than 15) drink driving offences. He still drink drives to this day and actually encourages others to do the same. Retards... so many of them.

yep - i used to know a person like that. She got caught drink driving 2 times or something. Second time the judge warned her next time its the jail for her. Did she learn her lesson - nope. 3rd time she crashed into a car while not being insured, and driving on a suspended licence (i think). Luckily for her the car she crashed into belonged to someone she knew, and she was able to get a family member to come and help her out. Did that change her outlook? Nope - stopped for a while, but is on the juice again.

To be honest, i cant give a f**k if scum like that end up in jail or dead (better than them killing an innocent person anyway).....the world is better off without them anyway.

We have more staff on as holidays over so we are running traffic cars most days. I would say that most stations in same position so more out and about. We are running plate recognition days in next few weeks also which will be interesting.

I am almost becoming a professional drink driver processer as almost eveyone I pull over lately is pissed. Have had 4 repeat offenders all more than 3 times limit in last month. One also disqualified and driving unregistered car and almost ran us off road 3 times in police car. In his mind he did nothing wrong and told me off as I verbalised my disgust for him in no uncertain terms.

so do u know officer pitett? ns.com famous police rep from a couple of years ago.

I guess with a drunk person you have to let go any feelings about things you may have personally. As you are probably aware, rationality goes out the window most of the time. How do u deal with that? Does it frustrate you that there is no respite, and a continuous occurence of drunk people? Or can u spin it into a positive in that u are preventing people driving further that are a danger to others.

I totally am against drink driving if people are confused,

No I don't know pettett. I am getting sick of the amount of Drink Driver's out there and most are not a little bit over but smashed. I don't understand with all the media coverage and immediate loss of license why people still do it. (more than ever IMO) I am also frustrated that about 90% of them I have dealt with in last 12-18 months are international students and don't give a toss. I have seen some in at our station after fatal collisions where they have killed friends/family and others and weren't even the slightest bit upset by their actions.

I do feel good when I catch someone like that because there is a good chance that I may have stopped them killing someone else or even themselves. I never take things personally and never will, the day I can't control my emotions I shouldn't be wearing the uniform.

That is exactly the attitude all of Victoria Police should have, and I wish all police did; like anything the minority ruin it for the majority.

You couldn't have said it any better :D

LOL there are more than 5 people in the police force man. Pettett was known of around most of the Melbourne car scene for particular reasons, but I imagine the only people in the force who know him are his superiors and colleagues at his station.

RWC does not worry me. Other things do :D

even though people have legit RWC's, i have a feeling if they feel like it they will pin you somehow. for example warn seatbelts even when they are still decent. you dont even need to change them and go to vicroads and vicroads says piss off dont worry bout it. seen it plenty of times.

been there done that :P

got defected for a faulty seat belt. It got twisted when I got out. Dandenong TMU didn't see the difference and didn't bother un twisting.

Saw about 5 police cars last night coming home along the eastern - had one police SUV come up fast in the 80 zone before the tunnel and flash his high beams when I had a car next to me and couldn't move over, he then passed me on the shoulder. Couldn't tell it was a police car til he went passed due to it being dark, so he just seemed like an obnoxious SUV driver.

he is infamous.

People still drink and drive because even if they lose their license, its just a slap on the wrist to be driving without a license anyway.

not really i'd say its a lot harsher then all these ppl that bash the crap out of innocent ppl for no reason or stab em etc are coppping..

those guys from the hungry jacks bashing ill be suprised if they get 12 months jail.. its a f*kn joke no wonder ppl wana arm them selves and bring on some vigilante justice the courts are pathetic.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
