im in paul - wouldnt mind doing the 1/4 mile again as well...

see if i can better my previous run with 320awkw & did a 11.1sec

Wow. That makes my 11.6 with 370rwkw look like shit. Having said that my best 60 foot was over 2 seconds.

I suppose that's what happens when you dont want to pop another box!

What was your 60 foot and MPH?

Thats interesting with the injectors. I have read that "whatever you think is enough with E85... go the next size up".

Next time we go I'll def give you and Marko a yell. Although I would love to do EC. Wakefield espeically with the power that our cars make I find you spend too much time in the lower gears. It did feel great grabbing 4th at 8500 hauling arse down the main straight!

With the box. Be careful. I broke mine on the street with not a very hard shift at all. It was only 11,000 kms old. Was not impressed. Now I have a OS box to try and break. Knock on wood that does not happen!

Maybe we should all go on the same night and have 3 GTR's getting booted out 1 after another. haha

Its a shame there's no ID1500, that would suit so many built cars out there!

EC is awesome fun, its definatly more suited to big hp cars like yours marko's and mine. On street tires there's so many nice spots for power on oversteer out of corners and the corners are all so open compared to Wakefield which feels a bit small for so much HP as you cant use it most of the time. The straight at EC is just brilliant, entry speed is pretty good then its just a case of slamming each gear at 8500rpm/9000rpm and feeling all that power shove you forward. mmmm, love it! You know what i think is best about Wakefield? That massive hill near Bowral on the highway driving there!

I think you'll be ok with an OS box, they seem to take a beating. Im being careful with mine, but when driving quick i still shift fairly fast and dont crunch it at all, im a bit worried one day ill be in gear then go full throttle then a sudden BANG

Im in for a joint booting from WSID. We can go one after the other in one lane just to make a joke about it. Do you think they'd kick us for slamming the brakes before the finish line?

My fuel system is almost there then. I have 2 x 044s to feed the rail and a walbro in tank pump. E85 looks like the way to go, shame we wont get it at the pump for a while here in Tassie...

Ah Tasmania, how many years was it until you guys got 98? haha

What injectors do you plan on using?

On your 11.1 did you launch it, or just engage at normal revs then stand on the loud pedal?

I should hopefully be getting "the LOLvo" back from Yavuz tomorrow, so I'll be aiming to comprehensively smash you all* at WSID.:whistling::P:happy:

*Disclaimer: this "smashing" will be purely on the basis of who has the most available boot space in their car, mmmkay???

:P

off the limiter, side step the clutch.

this was also accompanied with a 2nd gear burnout in rwd mode

that is right! capacity chews DC, i know when i upgraded these were my results:

rb26 with 700cc - making 320awkw & DC was 90%

rb26/30 with 1600cc - making 405awkw & DC is 65% (imagine with 700cc, impossible)

Yeah the 1500's would be right on! It will be interesting to see the difference between yours and mine. Same tuner, same fuel, same cams. I have higher compression but not as much capacity... but a ported head.

Ha. That hill. Yeah I will admit that it was quite fun going up that on the way there. A look in the rear vision mirror and you could see a fair bit of black smoke hanging about. haha.

Im not sure about the jumping on the anchors at WSID. "11.4 @ 94 mph". haha. But yeah. Mass boot out for sure. We just have to all get our cars sorted and tee up a Wednesday night.

i also heard that once injectors reach over 90% they start losing efficiency

Never heard of this before.

It's actually pretty funny, the amount of extra fuel flow you get going from 99% to 100% compared to 98% to 99%...

The amount of fuel flowing at 90%, is not going to be 90% of the CC rating. It's actually less as you have to take into affect dead time, plus the lower flow when the injector is first opening and then again closing.

Will probably go with ID2000 just to have a little extra if I want more power.

It sounds like our drags may be closing so am looking for a cheap GTR to drop the engine into. :)

Well i guess time will tell, ive spent a bit of time on the exhaust today so that was good. I really think the stock porting will let it down but the reason i left it like that is to see just how far the stock head can go. Ive told Yavuz to push it as hard as he can, so it will be a good comparison

I can tell you some stories about that hill, none on here though haha

We can do the bootout after the dyno :)

Yeah smart move. The 1000's just wont do the job

Why are your drags closing? Is there a racetrack where the straight can be used instead? Eastern Creek used to do that up here. Anyway, you get Targa roads, thats more than enough ;)

    • As I've said elsewhere, I am using the stock intercooler piping path in the engine bay, and a return flow cooler, and making ~250 rwkW (without any effort put into trying to turn it up past there just yet) and expect to be able to make some more, and frankly, I would be perfectly happy with 260-270rwKW. This is peak road Skyline usability territory. You go past there and, sure, the car will snap necks more when it's on boost, but it will also break shit all the time, cost a (even larger) fortune in tyres, etc etc. Anyway, I also do not like the over-the-fan pipe path, and you don't have to do it.
    • I see, honestly I’m not too fussed about the looks. The only reason to go plenum is to make the piping easier instead of the classic over the rad etc.
    • Not easy to quantify wrt something like how many fractions of a second slower it would be over 0-100. But given that a 250-300rwkW car is able to do that launch sprint in 5-6 sec (and faster with appropriate tyres, and surface)..... giving up as much as a second would feel like torture. A ~450HP capable turbo is not going to make lots of boost in the 2000-3000 rpm range. So, whilst with some boost on hand it will be faster accelerating in that rev range than your engine currently is NA, it will not feel like a fast car until the boost is solidly in. You know what your car feels like right now when you open it up at 2000rpm. if you've ever been in an actual fast car, you will appreciate that the NARB25 is.... not exciting. Well, add some boost and it will be better. But shorten the intake runners and it might not be better at all. It might come out better, but it could end up feeling the same. For me, it's not the 0-X km/h sprints that matter. It is easy to fry the tyres with anything over 200 rwkW. You can't use all the power available in 1st and 2nd anyway, you have to modulate the throttle. What matters is how the car reacts when you're driving in traffic in 4th or 5th and have maybe 2000 rpm on board, and you want/need to add some speed quickly, and don't have time for the downshift. It won't make boost, it will be all NA (at the speeds we're talking about - remember how fast you're going at 2000 in 4th! and don't plan on breaking the limit by too much.) So giving away NA torque is not what I would consider practical for a street car. And retaining that NA torque builds boost faster which makes the car faster. The flashy plenum is not actually better, unless you're looking at a track car where you can keep it on the boil all the time.
    • So how much difference does it make you think? Like 1 second in the 0-100?  I was have smaller turbo so hopefully that spools quick GTX2871.  currently it’s NA so you can imagine pretty slow, but I do want fast accusation a little as there’s not many places I’ll be driving where I go over 80 even near me. So 0-60 and 0-80 targets
    • Short inlet runners cost quite a bit. Dulls off the off-boost torque, and delays boost onset, because arrival of boost is driven by gas flow is a product of the ability to flow air which is torque. This is the reason that the stock manifolds have longer runners. On a 3L, or bigger, you can usually accept the compromise of giving away some torque because the extra capacity gives you a little extra to waste. But on a smaller motor, there's not a lot there to start with. Example, I swapped RB20 out of my R32, 25NeoDET in its place. The "wall of torque" that I experienced afterwards made it all worthwhile. That's because I came from RB20 land where torque is not a thing. But I would not do anything, anything at all, to reduce the low/mid torque I have now, because I remember what it is like to not have it!
