thats what the emanage does also, except you can set different on/off points depending if engine speed is increasing, or decreasing.

Only the V-manage can adjust the cams, but the original ecu cam map is good, and working again.

Dont ask me how, Cihan waved his magic wand and its all better. So much midrange the lock up clutches arent able to lock unless i back off to help them. :worship:

I want to get the lockup clutch line pressure bumped up if possible, then manualise it. If that doesnt work, r34 gtr box or similar will be shoved in. No cash for that until tax time ay Craig. :worship:

Still locks fine if I back off the throttle at changes, just too much for the poor trans to handle. 2 ton car with 3 people in it, full tank and a boot full of crap doing steep uphill power runs. I overheated the radiator probably due to the high trans fluid temps. Lucky I have the Mishimoto to go in.

*shudders*

Will help, just let me know when. :worship:

This is probably a silly question and maybe not so relevant in this case with so many mods... but could the original pedal assembly/throttle body still be kept hooked up alongside the cable operated one to fool the computer into thinking it's all as normal? The tps would still work as if it was in the induction path.....

Or would it cause too many conflicts for the ecu and go into limp?

Anything is possible, the factory ecu would add fuel gradually as the elec throttle opened, but the cable opens instantly so there is a very lean area. I am trying to get the Emanage to run the whole show if possible as that will give a much better outcome, no fighting the ecu for control.

It looks like im at the limit of the gearbox anyway so no more power, I just want the low response. I thought cable throttle would fix that but it looks like the cams retard till 3k revs too.

Yup. makes sense.

After some idle issues and torque lockup slippage, I have decided to refit the oem throttle. (shame to drop power though)

I found the cable throttle didn't help the engine pickup much in the early revs, very similar takeoff so now put the low rev lack of performance down to the cam mapping.

Next I will try the V manage and see if that can awaken the low end response. If anyone spots a cheap one let me know.

i remember seeing some dyno readout's done on RB's with to test the VVT switching of the stock ecu to see if any benifit could be had in altering the on/off points. they showed that nissan had it spot on as standard and there would be no gain in changing to switch point. i don't know if the VQ is the same but you'd think nissan would have it setup perfectly too.

have you thought about just getting a simple rpm switch instead of the V-manage?

You will find the cam adjustments are a bit more complex on the M35 and can definitely be improved on. They are set up for economy, especially under 3500 revs.

Most modern engines have a switch point for a high lift cam lobe and constantly variable overlap. No need for aftermarket cams as there is a lumpy bugger in there just waiting to be tweaked.

The reason I need the V manage is to take control of the cams once the ecu is in limp mode as this disables the whole engine. (but not the gearbox, lucky.)

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
