B-Man I have an unused Fiberglass UAS airbox if you want it ? The only thing wrong with it is im missing 1 of the screws for the side and it has a very light scratch across the top part of it.

Make me an offer if you like...

Ben - thanks dude - I have one already - I want an aluminum one - plus my pipework is not std any more so might have to be custom jobbie.

Jimbo - I won't be using them again. Thanks anyhows.

B-man, go to a place like Smart Aluminium - Wetherill Park, (or check yellow pages for other suppliers that are close to you)... and buy up some scrap to the value of their minimum purchase order.

Smart Aluminium's is $15, and for that i got enough alum sheet to do plenty of odd jobs, (just havent been bothered to do them), like ducts for oil cooler, panel for bottom of cooler to ensure air passes thru not underneath, and cold air intake.

Aluminium is easy to work with using basid tools like files/drill/hacksaw. So once you have it all cut and filed up, rock up to a place like Performance MetalCraft, Micks MetalCraft, Hills Motorsport, anyone you trust with aluminium welding (UAS???)

if they wont weld it up for an hours labour, cash or invoiced, hell even the old case of Crownies, then try elsewhere. They are looking at about 500mm max of fillet weld, which wont take any time at all.

So with a bit if DIY, you get exactly what YOU want for $80-150 depending if you want to polish out the weld or just polish the sheet.

You da man Roy !

I don't know why I keep thinking that I have to get other people to do stuff on my car - I am quite capable (lack of time is the only reason I guess)

I think I will give this a go.

I know a place with a new TIG so maybe we can work something out !

Cheers !

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
