No offence but that looks hideous and it's ability to flow well would be questionable.

In fact it came of an RB25DET pushing around 500rwhp

I couldnt give a shit what it looks like as long as it does its intended job.

Please justify 'questionable'?

Lol no need to get pissed off about it, just said it looks terrible. It's not like you made it and im saying your work is shit.

Whether it made 500HP is irrelevant, you can do that on the stock plenum (for reference the Plazmaman one is rated at 1000HP worth of flow, in other words its "horsepower flow" is irrelavant.)

Its just a stock plenum that has been cut up and made into a foward facing plenum (as many people do) but he has changed the centre of it completely, however do you think it has been created to flow well and R&D put into it to flow as evenly as possible like a Plazmaman or Greddy one would? Just saying. It may flow well, it may not, hence my "questionable" comment.

All good mate no offence taken and I’m not shitty lol.

I understand everyone is entitled to their opinions however, it might pay to keep 'possibly' offensive comments to yourself. If I 'had' made it myself would you have made the same comment? Food for thought.

What I meant by "pushing around 500rwhp" is that the guy I bought it from obviously had no problems with it flowing well.

I love the pics of your engine bay and most of the way you have gone about your build but there are certain things I would have done differently. But I’m not about to start criticizing you for this.

It’s these differences that make owner/building and modifying such a personal thing and it’s what keeps forums and discussions such as these happening.

I chose to use this modified forward facing plenum as I am building/modifying on a very tight budget and cannot afford some of the more exotic items on the market. I have researched the factory modified forward facing plenum and it suits my intended build and purpose just fine especially from a budget conscious point-of-view.

I did not intend to compare my plenum to either the plazmaman or the greddy.

I was actually looking for info in regard to the benefits of using a much larger than standard throttle.

Any way back to the question.

I'm worried about the affects of turbulence as a result of interrupting laminar flow, So can anyone please tell me what the pro's and/or con's are of changing to a larger than standard throttle body?

Fair enough man. And no I would have not made the comment if you said you made it as I would not have wanted to offend your work, but since you said it was off ebay, hence I made the comment as I didn't think it mattered. All good.

do u need a retune once the plenum has been installed?

I did. I'm not sure if it's necessary ,but i went fom a return flow cooler with original plenum to a standard front mount with a forward facing plenum and i gained 13 rwhp up top.Made more power down low until 4100rpm.Then made less power until 5100rpm.After that it just pulled better nicely til 7200rpm where as before that it stopped rising in power at about 6700rpm.

well i received my plazmaman plenum today... WOW its a workmanship..

but all i have to say the greddy has over this is that it comes with all the little nuts and bolts to bolt it up...

saying that i would not ever trade this beauty in! amazing..

+1 for plazmaman!

Hey guys, I've got the Plasmaman plenum on my r33, came with the car when I bought it. Just took it for a dyno tune and my tuner said he doesn't like the Plasmaman plenums as they don't distribute air evenly to all cylinders. He then proceeded to show me the different colours of the plugs.

Anyone else come across this before regarding the Plasmaman plenum?

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
