I remember first time i rode in my brothers gtr, was very nice, although there are many cars that have that "gtr" feeling. hehe. Yes it is an amzaing car considering its a 1992 model. Not many cars ran 13's stock back in those days.... or still do.. hehehe

LOL

I don't own a GT-R.

I think the general public (especially the brainless pretty boys withh too much money) think that every R32 to R34 "is" a GT-R.

Un-fortunately had too many occassions whereby Porsches, M3s and other exotics want to race me :S

Quite glad to know my n/a 2.5L, 4dr, auto - intimidates the big boys.... Thanks to the GT-R's legend. :D:O:(

yeh its definately a blast to drive, going back to the story with the 997. I myself had the chance to drive a ferrai 430 and im telling ya i had much more confidence, rush feeling and would of definately been able to run circles around the ferrari. Its funny that no one can really explain why is it that we get this feeling from a gtr but not another car? Weird

^^ :D

Mate, they need to go on a diet. Mine had 500 at the rears and was a blast to drive but i do actually get more out of driving my stock R32 GTR. Its a go kart, but faster.

Hah!

I know yeah, tell me about it! :O

Yes the R32 GTR would feel more 'nimble' compared to a 260RS.

Yeah the GTR's are definitely a special car. I was looking for a R34 GT-T and test drove a few, by chance ended up driving a R33 GTR as the private importer brought the wrong car for me to look at. However I'm glad he did. It felt so different to the GTS-T and GT-Ts, the handling, the power delivery, wide stance etc etc. From then on I only looked at buying a GTR, I knew if I bought a GT-T I would always be wishing it was a GTR. Now having a GTR there is absolutely no regrets. It is an amazing car. I have a friend who has a Mercedes SL55 AMG and he thinks the GTR is a whole lot better to drive, and slightly faster (modded). I love taking it for drives on twisty mountain roads on the weekends, it really comes to life! However now I have to clear a damn EPA defect I haven't been able to drive it for the last 3-4 weeks and I find myself having BIG GTR withdrawals.

what do you reckon gives you this feeling? do you think it could be emulated into another car, say an rx7?

RX7. fuck no.

The feeling comes from the right blend of knowing that you're a higher breed of pompous/arrogant fanboy than those around you, mixed with the confidence that an AWD system that requires very little of you other than to point in the right direction, with a sprinkling of contempt of those that don't make as much power at all four wheels as you do.

You'll find an RX7 struggles to deliver all of these ingredients in a similar composition. R8's, Evo 8/9/10's and some Lambos on the other hand...

I've just bought a BNR32 coming from a Supra, and I can tell you, the GTR is just something else altogether. You cannot wipe the smile off my face when I'm behind the wheel, and anyone who knows what it is has a gander as you drive past. GTRs just command respect.

Your supra was N/A though right?

My supra vs gtr as far as niceness to sit in all day isnt a fair competition, the supra wipes the floor with the gtr!

Do GTR's have road presence? Yes.

Are they fun to drive? Yes.

Is anything else like them to drive? No. Ive driven some cars people call "fast" (talking exotics here, not shitbox holden V8's) and NOTHING had the rush my GTR has.

AWD grip, mechanically very good (shame about most of them being uncared for worn out examples), but in a gtr with some decent mods it will ruin cars for most drivers. There's very few cars i can think of that will have the same rush, meaning that i will, like a lot of others, always have a gtr for fun as long as they're around

I got to drive a WRX once, my first experience of a turbo car. I remember being quite impressed with it at the time, having not driven anything remotely fast before. But the first time I drove a GT-R, when the boost came on ... my first thought was, "Bloody hell, this is serious."

That's what I love about the GT-R. It's a serious car. It's a car you have to respect. I love looking around me on the road knowing that nothing I can see could live with me if I put my foot down.

Genuine power, genuine grip ... and sure, you could make a GTS-T or something as fast or faster than a stock GT-R. But I'd still keep my GT-R over a GTS-T with 300rwKw. Don't know why, but I just love the GT-R.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
