Yeh. I reckon one of those bad boys and a good ecu with good traction control and it would shit all over alot of other cars. The supercharger guys told me of a hill climb car they fitted a supercharger to over in Perth somewhere and it was turned into an animal.

Lol workshop tomorrow mate! Engine and gbox are going back in and then start hooking everything back up and finish exhuast system and fuel system. Then test. I had to get the head reco'd. Valves were not sealing. Lol lucky I did a leak down test before putting everything back in the car! Pretty much wasted a week there though ;)

Speaking of exhaust system i/my brother might have to make a custom 3.5" cat back. i cant find any that are close to/are legal DB wise (or would be with a small amount of modification). I want to try and get something that will allow 400kw and still pass an exhaust sound test.

Keeps the neighbours off my back and avoids any unwanted attention (not that there will be much to pick on with the thing engineered)

think positive, better that you find it now than when its all back in there.

That's why it's good to have sympathetic neighbours haha I leave the turbo timer on for 5 mins at 4 am and they don't care at all

There was a guy somewhere out west who was making exhausts for about $1200, he would ask how much power it needed to flow and then the db it needed to be. It was guaranteed to meet those specs. BenM was talking with him years ago when he had his White GTR. Don't know if that helps?!

you wouldnt happen to know any more specifics on the guy?

Not off hand sorry

It would take a fair while to search for his name I think, send BenM a pm, I'll have a look tomorrow incase he's forgotten the name

Yep id be happy with that!!!

How was it in the top end?

Its so frustrating trying to get the "perfect" set up. I want to get mine coming on about 1500rpm sooner, so i think changing cams is the go. Makes 400rwkw at 5000rpm now.

Id hate to be chasing something like a 180sx with a 3L and a super responsive turbo through hills though, there's just no chance of catching something like that haha

Shithouse in the top end, had the limiter set to 6800 and from 5800-6800 it went from ~250rwhp to 90rwhp :)

I can tell you though the little 32gtst with the 3L and 25 turbo was ballistic through the hills, highway was awesome too, never needed to drop it back a gear, just roll on in 5th :)

is that with a aftermarket computer or the standard one? wouldnt mind getting mine going on the standard one for the moment then putting the aftermarket one in abit later. can do it all now/whenever i want if i really want but would love to get it running again without spending all my money on it.

has anyone used the standard ecu on their rb25-30? sorta worried about doing that coz it might be in the rich maps and wont allow the new motor to bed in properly from running rich. piston rings and glazing the bores and crap like that

I ran mine untuned on the RB20 ECU for about 4 months, I just didn't rev it over 5500-6000rpm because a) afm was maxing and b) turbo choked the engine up.

It did actually mean I was slower than a standard 32 because I couldn't rev it to 7500rpm, some 3.9 gears helped that.

i got a 3076r 0.82 on a 26/30 with stock rb30 n/a pistons, stock 26 head and stock cams, it makes 21psi at 2900rpm in 4th on flat road, though its hard to tell exact as i cant log the boost/rpm to double check. It does die in the arse abit up top but i think its due to cam timing which i still havent bothered to sort out. Its making a lack of power due to the same reason but just doesnt have the feel of a bigger turbo i am used to. The whistle of the thing annoys the shite out of me too, i hateeeeee it.

I went and had a chat with the local exhaust shop as i needed to get a euro 3 cat for the emissions test, using a rough guestimate on required materials i can make my own custom 3.5" catback with two large mufflers for about $1000. Thats assuming i can fit decent sized off the shelf mufflers under there.

So for about the same money as a jap catback i should be able to get pretty close to legal DB. :)

lol im at work and its lunch. If only I was at home and working on it..

Side note, I got to briefly speak to Mike Vine at the speedway saturday night and I told him about my project and he said they did something similiar but had to run two throttle bodies because apparently there will be abit of lag in the time it takes to fill everything after the supercharger to the plenum as its alot of volume in vaccum and takes abit of time to fill.

The old codger scared me with the lag part! Making me thing I should have just left the throttle body were it was..... DANG!

    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
    • Hi All, putting the engine back together and everything is perfect except have this plug left over.. any ideas what it is for and where it goes? Is on cold side under the intake plenum *note not a stock plug, as everything has been modified Cheers
