i always thought that the squarish lights came out on all models up to 1990? (mine's an 89) then 1990+ the bug eyed lights came out on all models... then the r33s came.

i never thought of the middle driving lights as round though.

on my one:

left-->right

indicator, [parklight/lowbeam/highbeam], fog?lights

and, i think the amber indicators only came out on the gtr or gts4 models.

i've got amber indicators and the gtr style lights on mine... I've been told that the previous owner did a few mods to the car looks wise... like the light up skyline in the back

its not year... i thought that too, but then I was disproven by the guys at J-Spec... its not model specific, you get that light arrangement in GTS/t and GTR housings, and in cars that were manufactured from as way back as 1990 till late 1993. I dunno what it is... its either random, or its a very popular aftermarket change that ppl in japan do (same with the indicators, clear, semi clear or fully yellow)... Mine could have been, coz my previous owner did a few visual mods.

nissan only list the two part numbers i think the ones that have gone frosty is a fault in them i have seen them in japan one perfect and clear and the other side frosty and then i get three perfect sets

My gts-4 has the gtr(projector) ones as well. They are nicknamed bug-eyes because of the globe shape.

Not all turbo skylines have them. I've seen numerous gts-t R32's with the older reflector style on them. It seems to be an option when originally buying the car. But from what I can tell there isn't really a difference between the globe ones on a turbo skyline and the GTR ones. Inner is always high-beams then the globes in the middle and the parking lights on the outer.

The amber or clear indicators designates wether it's a facelift or not. They had clear up until 92(except the GTR which I think always had orange) when the facelift came out then they changed to orange. Mine should have orange as it's a facelift but it has been changed for clear.

I saw a guy selling the convex lens on the projector light of the GTR style lights as a magnifying glass... sometimes you come across wierd shite in yahoo auctions.

i want to know if i got GT-R lights or just normal ones?

In Series 1 R33's there are no differences in the headlights, in Series 2 R33's the GT-R still had the series 1 R33 headlights whilst the other models gained the slightly different ones. There was a Series 3 GT-R which had different headlights, they are shaped like the series 1 R33 headlights however have xenon lights rather than the usual ones. There's like a squareish light in the inside of the headlight, and a round xenon projector on the outer bit of the headlight. If you don't know what i'm talking about by now i can post pics to explain it better :D

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
