mzgtst - sorry I missed you out - you are on the list now

raz0r - mate we are gonna get a good deal with 23 cars !

CS_180 - 1996 I understand

Jimbo - see my thoughts below

MrExa - darkest tint is 5% - way illegal , SAU don't condone this, but he will do it :O

Oh and I think mirror tint is available too - I'll check it out.

The place is in Nth Ryde / Ryde area - but there is another location too - and also he has a mobile service - obvioulsy cheaper if we go to him -

My Skyline took about 1 hr and I waited and chatted to him whilst he did it - Nice guy.

OK - this is way more popular than I thought it would be - 23 cars - Which is a good thing.

First I thought we could organise a day where we could all go down at a pre-arranged and scheduled times - but since we now have 23 interested cars, I dont think this will be possible

So...

I will propose that we do like a voucher type system.

I will go to him and get prices for the group buy -

If the price is good and you guys are still keen, you get the $$ to the tint ppl OR me (if you trust me :O ) and I'll go down and get 23 (or whatever) vouchers that will entitle you to get your tint done on the vehicle specified. I'll see that the certificates are valid for like 30-45 days - so you all have a month or so to book in a time and day to get your tint done.

If this is all agreeable - then I'll take expressions of interest and payments for 2 weeks then close the deal.

After the 2 weeks I'll get all the certificates and mail them to you.

I'll get details of the tints and types of films available when I negotiate the deal.

BTW - I will be pushing for an EXTRA discount for SAU-NSW members - there may be an extra saving of $20 or something there.

So if you want to join the club - do so now and we'll see if we can get an extra heavy duty good deal for you !

Anyway - they are my thoughts - it may change after I speak to them....

bman, sounds like a gun plan...liking the voucher idea...

also liking the fact that you mention 1996 as the year the window tinting restricion changed....does that mean tha a pre 96 car can be darker?, or did it have to be done b4 96?

thats quite a list....well done guys

Brendan - I understand that the defect nazi's are much more leaniant on pre 96 cars as the tint rules changed then -

ie you just say that this is how it was when you bought it ........

As my tint guys said -- when was the last time that you heard of someone getting done for tint ??

Me - never ..... there you go...

That said - SAU does not condone illegal modifications or activities

    • After @Kinkstaah debacle, I'd never want to try and get it right 😛
    • The hood lines up with the fenders. The front bar doesn't perfectly line up with the fenders where the wheel arch is. You have to 'squeeze' the front bar 'in' as it wants to naturally flare out and be longer on the sides. There's a few threads where people notice this when they only swap a GTR style bumper and front bar. Unless you have genuine OEM items - you may be better served getting conversion kits. There are GTT bumpers to fit GTR hoods. There are GTR hoods (non genuine) to fit the GTT bracketry. MAY
    • The real question is, on some of those wild roads they call highways, how many times did a farmer in an old ute from the early 2000s blaze past you over double lines?   Tassie is a wild and really cool place, and after doing a work related road trip there January of 24, I understand why Targa Tasmania is ran there, and is so tough to do well at! We had a brand new Camry Hybrid that handled quite nicely, and thankfully weren't in an old car, because cresting some of those hills in a 100kmh zone for it to suddenly be like "surprise f**kers, this is a recommended 30kmh hard right turn" wouldn't be pretty. We weren't racing the Camry around, but we weren't slouching in the bends either. But my lord those old farmers know their old clapped out utes, and those roads, as they were absolutely hammering it!   You're also super lucky to make it up to Mt Wellingtong this time of year. It's often road closed with snow/ice! Also, I hope you hit up Salamander Road in Hobart for some insanely good food (I highly recommend the dimly lit Irish pub for a Guiness Pie, or even the bangers and mash!!!)   How long did the Ferry take to get across? I want to do a road trip of Tas on my own time, but I get horrifically sea sick, and I don't want me on the Ferry, just the car 😛
    • So far so good, about 30km on it so far and nothing out of sorts yet thankfully
    • Look at @Kinkstaah's thread on the issue.
