Another win!

The JZS171/UZS173 Crown and Crown Majesta are now eligible in both sedan and wagon versions. Eligible motors are 1JZ-GTE and 1UZ-FE. This one actually took a fair bit of work to get through, but we got there in the end!

Remember it's still early days, but it does mean we can start work on getting plates for them, around 12 months away.

HMMM ive been waiting for these JZS171w Crown wagons ....... for all those who want to know they dont come in V8 form for the wagon 3 variants are 2.5NA 2.5 turbo same as chaser and 3.0NA

the turbo Variant you want is called the Athelete V all these are turbo.

Only the majesta Sedan come with V8 2wd and 4wd version

Good work Kristian for this....... and what was the problems you encountered to get them added ?

Sorry mate, got confused about which comes with which engine... one more time for the dummies??

1UZ-FE V8 - sedan only

1JZ-GTE - sedan and wagon

Phil, the Crown/Crown Majesta/Crown Athlete thing confused them a bit, as did the fact that I didn't bother listing a few engine variants because the chassis numbers didn't match up, hence they're referred to as S17 series in the application...

Nope you'll be looking at $20K at least I suspect - they were a 5.5 million yen car when they were released...

Phil probably knows better than I do, but if you want black, expect to pay shitloads more.

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

12 months away?!?!?!?! i have been wishing for these for AGES!!!! i'll keep my soarer for a little whlie i think... the soarer that i don't have that is.. haha

these cars are AMAZING

can't WAIT!!!! keep us in the loop

Unless under way already unfortunately this will more then likely end up on the SEVS list and go no further, Kristian does the work for people to get them on the SEVS list then no one buys cars as no workshop wants to commit to a new unknown model no matter how good they are.

Some business have screwed some workshops so much they are closing down or will not spend any money on test cars for quite a while. If people paid a fair price for compliance there would be money in the bank for test cars not just enough money to get by (not all workshops).

Dunno much about them (yet), which build years are eligible?

hmm... love the thought of an AWD twin turbo V8.... if only Toyota could figure out how to make a nice interior

Is the hearse spec one a longer tail or can you actually fit a coffin in the boot of a standard Crown?

If you can, that's an awesome selling point. Substitute coffin with 2by4 or surfboard depending on the client I suppose.

    • I saw you mention this earlier and it raised a red flag, but I couldn't believe it was real. Yes, the vacuum signal should vary. It is the one and only load signal from the engine to the ECU, and it MUST vary. It is either not connected or is badly f**ked up in some way.
    • @Haggerty you still haven't answered my question.  Many things you are saying do not make sense for someone who can tune, yet I would not expect someone who cannot tune to be playing with the things in the ECU that you are.  This process would be a lot quicker to figure out if we can remove user error from the equation.
    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
