3 wks ago my car was parking on the road outside my company. The a truck own by company next door crushed on my car and resulted right hand and front damage. The company owner offered me to tow the car to above crush repair (as the title). I had no experience and so accepted and thought it was just to get a quote.

3 days later I rang up the crush repair and they said they had sent a quote to the company and its insurance company, they were waiting their approval to start the work. My thought was hand on, I haven't seen the quote yet. Then I got a copy of the quote from the company next door. I was so angry as all parts that need to be replaced were second hand, and they refused to repair some damages that I reckon was part of incident.

Then I rang up the crush repair and told them not to start the work as I am not happy with what on the quote. A staff (initial with S) told me with unsatisfaction that they would not release my car until the insurance company said so because this job was given by the insurance company and if I want to take the car I had to pay the admin and storage fee before they release my car.

I rang up few friends and they told me the bloddy crush repairer doesn't have right to hold my car, advised me to take the car and if not call the police.

I went into the crush repair and argued with them wishing to take my car. As they said in the phone, they needed me to pay $191 (incl storage fee and quotation fee) before they could release my car. I said WTF, where is my right to choose a crush repair I like? (The whole process my interest was left out, I didn't get the quote, they didn't ask me if I was happy about the work, btw I am the owner of the car). Unfortunately when I rang up the police, the police asked if I had some sort of payment that they required I had not pay so they didn't release the car, and I thought the answer was yes, so the police refused to come that day. Then I asked, who allow you to start the work (even thought they had not start yet, but going to). Again they said the insurance company accessor. I said then he had to pay the fee. And they said no, I had to as they advised me on phone. I argued when my car was towed in that day they didn't tell me this. They said they told me on the phone. (fxxk, the whole conversation they were just pointless and gave me only two options, 1 let them repair the car, 2 pay them money). I was so angry, but I wanted to achieve a win-win for us so I was forced to let them start the work :) .

Now it has been a week more and they are still reparing it. I just got no way to express my anger about this doggy crush repairer. I was silly regarding my right and decision at that time. However, I only got 3rd party insurance so couldn't get their advice and involvement. My conclusion is, never agree to go to a crush repairer that suggest by the one who crush on your car. They are one group of evil wanting your money.

Good things need to be shared in Skylines Aust, bad things need to warn other skyline owner in Skyline Aust too. Any one got experience regarding this doggy repairer or others?

the above is where you made your first and biggest mistake.......now, unfortunately, your hands are tied.

You still have the option of another repairer but you are definitely liable for the towing fee at the very least since you authorized it.

Unfortunately a lack of knowledge of procedure is no defense these days. You're at their mercy so if I were you, I'd try to get back on their good side and plea your case without demands......hopefully they feel sorry for you and drop the storage fee.

Yes, I agreed that the acceptance of going to the crash repair is the biggest mistake.  However, there is definitely no towing fee because the company who crashed to my car is a car transporting company so they have special truck to tow my car there for free.  The crash repair doesn't involve any towing.

But yes you should have taken the car yourself to whichever repairer you wanted instead, then have gotten a quote and sent it to the company who was at fault (then they send it to their own Insurance company to assess)

The so called "Storage & Assessment" fees on the Crash repairs end is their own fee, regardless if you wanted them to fix it or not. BUT more importantly you should not have to pay those fees if they are repairing your car still, those fees SHOULD have been listed in the assessment report sent to the insurance company for the "Total Loss" estimate.

Mate, get your own full comprehensive insurance. It's so much easier to just get it repaired through you insurer and let them get their money off of the other insurance company. The other insurer doesn't give a crap about you as you're not their customer.

As I stated on above story, they are just doggy.  There was no difference with threating me to fix the car there or pay the "storage & assessment" fee.  By calling the police, they refused to come as they were saying I got fee haven't paid them.  Calling a lawyer to come may end up more expensive.  I'd like to publish my story out to let everyone aware what they should do if similar thing happen on them.  Cheers

Mate, get your own full comprehensive insurance. It's so much easier to just get it repaired through you insurer and let them get their money off of the other insurance company. The other insurer doesn't give a crap about you as you're not their customer.

I think it's about time a thread was started about, what to do if you are even THINKING about buying a Skyline, or any car for that matter.

Insurance should be priority one when buying a car & be soughted out before purchasing/driving away in the vehicle. If you can't afford/don't have insurance ready, then why even bother looking at the car.

The Insurance company often refuses to buy new parts and this creats a lot of dramas. And if there is old damage often they wont allow it at all. Insurance companys are wankers they will take your money each month or year but when it comes to getting your car fixed they wanna do every thing on the cheap. But they have no right to charge a holding fee its there bad luck if they dont get the job.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
