You know what this means for SKYROD B-Man...back to the workshop.

Hey but at least you got to give it some stick, and it's a better reason than getting 15's from lack of power. :D

Yeah - and I gave it a go , which was fun ! I can only get better from here , hey ?

BTW - after 2nd run, when I filled WSID with smoke and the announcer thought I had blown a turbo ha ha ha - I rang John straight away and asked him to order me a super duper clutch......

Dang - next thing that will go is the diff, then the gear box - ha ha ha ha ha

Pretty disappointing day if you ask me. Certainly not worth the $30 I paid at the gate thats for sure, infact i'd say that the 2 previous Wednesday nite street meets have been much better. The crowd was well.... their wasn't much of a crowd, even from 8-10pm when it was much cooler.

Well done to 2rismo, B-Man, PranK, Merli etc for displaying SAU for us

I have to say i was a little disappointed as well, there was about 4 hours when there werent even any cars running (& the track was fine...). The whole 'Drag Combat' thing didnt even match up to a street meet for entertainment.

Auto Salon wont be seeing any more of my money for a while... the 8.4 run from WAR-700 was pretty cool, so was the 13.1 from 2rismo. (oh so close to a 12 from what i presume is a std turbo)

... and hats off to Merli, Prank & 2rismo and co ( i saw yor cars, couldnt see the owners  ) for ignoring the heat etc etc....

The Autostyle guys rocked up with their pack of cars, couldnt believe none of the cars ran, considering they are all claiming big power from the T88 setups.

Well we had fun, appart from the heat and some other factors, such as a blown 3rd and 4th gear, and then being stuck in 5th.

We got a 13.5 first run ever then a couple of 12.0's and then later a 11.9.

We are looking forward to Qld (appart from the heat) should have some better times as we will be going in with a fully rebuilt gearbox that we blow on Monday. Yes that is right 2 gear box's in less then a week.

So if anyone in Qld has a spare gear box that would like to lend us while we are there just in case, we would thank you.

If you are going to Qld and you see us say Hello!.

Also if anyone got some pics or video of the car can send me a copy [email protected].

Cheers

Heat was ridiculous, organisation was similar.

Roy, did you miss the car run 13.0 ?? ;-) I snuck in a grudge match against a 9 sec gemini for the 13.1 but the previous round in eliminations i went a tenth quicker at about the same terminal speed.

By the end of the night i was trying ANYTHING to get the shagged, hard tyres to work and snag a 12. It wasnt to be however the speed through the traps lends itself convincingly to a solid 12 so i'm happy.

Good to catch up with some people on the day as well - GTR700, hats off. I wouldnt wanna be in Andrej's racing booties for quids!

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
