Got the wastegate actuators and fitted em up. Was a real pain to do as there is no room, but all good now.

Also got a hold of a nismo cat converter to help free up the exhaust a bit more. I'll fit it up when I can be bothered crawling under the car again.

Sway bars have been ordered in too. :P

Love the work. Was wondering what are the benefits of replacing the wastegate actuators? or is it more of a preventative measure?

I always seem to get a bit of wastegate "flutter" under light acceleration (0.2 - 0.4 bar), even worse after a cold start. and so it stutters and bogs down unless I accelerate more to bring on higher boost.

Does that make sense? It's hard to explain but that's the best way I can describe it. I've read around of people having similar problems on rexies, and some suggest tightening the actuator arm. Is that possible on our skylines?

Thanks Owen!

Only if you replace the actuators with adjustables or get some with a higher spring setting.

I replaced them to get a more stable boost at high boost settings. The standard one's tended to drop in the mid-high range of RPM.

I get the same problem, but at highway speeds in 5-6 gear at light-medium throttle up hills etc.

One fix is to weld a divider into the 'twin turbo pipe' to smooth the airflow from the two turbo outlets. I am yet to get that done.

Some say they get it tuned out?

Well, I'll be seeing you soon then Chris!! That's exactly what I want to get done.

Another piece of the puzzle done now. Got the rims I wanted to get that 'look'.

Genuine Volk CE28N 18x10.5 +18 in gold. Got 275 35 rubber on them. Next plan is to lower it 20mm.

Care to tell where you sourced the wheels from

CE28N looks the bizz too

Ya, it needs some lowering badly

Well done Sean, the car looks tuff with the wheels.

I'm kinda regretting selling them now....

You running any coilovers??

Also have you contemplated colour coding the spoiler between your bumper and lower lip?

It would give it a more aggressive look and seem like the car sits lower aswell....

Very nice car mate, credit to you......

Yep, got em off JAGR33. Wanted them wheels for a while and kept eyeing them off.

Thanks again Jack!! They are a bloody nice wheel! I will not scratch or abuse them, and I'm also going to organise center caps too.

Also importmonster seems to get in some hot wheels in every so often too. They had a different set in silver a while back, but I didn't have the dough at that time!

Still the stock Vspec coilovers, but it will get something good, in time. I have a set of HKS coilovers ready to go, but I don't want a harsh ride.

Was thinking about colour coding the mid lip but I'm still partial to the black look. I do have the paint ready to go though!

Spent a day on the GTR, fitted HKS suspension and brake deflectors. Rear seat scratched the interior trim so I'm :domokun: at myself for that, scratched pretty bad so may have to get another trim panel.

Also pulled of front lip to colour match to car so I will take pics of new stance once finished!

Yep, it's cheaper than getting discs at the moment lolz.

LH rear coilover is knocking, so that was a great buy....

Painted the lower lip, but the paint I mixed was probably the wrong tin as it's slightly pink? I'll just take it to a painter next time I have it off.

Pics soon.

Ha ha, yeah, damn guys wanting engines built.

Hey Steve-o, looked like you got into some trouble on the day lol. When I get the car sorted I'll go. Would of loved to go, but no cash and was working on the R :) I think I like the lip painted, fills it out!

This is lowered to around 115mm on front lip, I like!!

Hey Sean

What did u do with painting.. you go the whole compressor and gun?

I know how to spray but not how to mix.. so i might require your mixing skills if i hire a booth and do a respray later in the year

That looks heaps better!! Middle lip painted white and with the coil overs makes the car look much lower to the ground.

Top job, well done....

P.s are they CSC brakes?

Thanks, I love the stance but not the ride quality. Yeah they are CSC 356mm discs with 6 pots. Need new discs though, these are stuffed. Got to find out who sells replacements.

Re spray Dave? Your car looks fine?!

I wore the sperm suit on sunday and whipped out the air compressor and my spray gun. Mixed up DG 2PAK white that I had colour matched, with hardener Added thinners but I probably didn't need to. Primed the lip then 800 sand to make it smooth, then 1 light coat, then 2 coats of the white. Nice and smooth/glossy straight out the gun. Fitted it that arvo.

I'm still learning, but I'm pretty good at painting now  Practiced a lot with a spray can when I didn't have a compressor and gun.

Prep work is still the most important, little things like wetting the floor etc.

    • Hi GTSBoy, Excuse my ignorance but what does a "Bad" Knee point mean ?
    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
