has anyone grafted a ls2 onto a gtr sump and made adaptor for gear box?

did find ls1 conv in rear wheel skyline but not awd

You are pretty much asking the impossile there.

I have seen a Twin turbo 1uz-fe powered TA28 celica that had GTR running gear, including the AWD, He had to cut the diff off the sump and weld it to the cross member, than had to dry sump the lexus V8 as it wouldnt fit with the GTR diff in the way.

It could be done, but would be way easier to build a 1000hp RB 26/34, and probably cheaper too.

I think the best way is regular 4wd underpinnings, hilux seems the choice (there is a v8/hilux 4wd 260z running around hillclimbs).

main problem with the gtr setup is that the driveshaft and front diff are in the sump....which means that setup has to fit on the bottom of the chosen motor, and the motor's location is fixed between the front wheels (can't really move forward or back).

its an interesting idea, but the gtr setup just does not lend itself to the change

heres a mazda eunos with holden ls1 5.7 adventura awd running gear

very quick even tho its an auto

have got a gtr sump/diff and a ls2 6.0 with adaptor plate might just get it to work

can only try

the ls motor would have to be similar weight to a rb motor and with it being 2 cylinders

shorter hopefully the weight transfer wouldnt be to far from original specs

get yourself the awd auto box and transfer, a T56 manual, remove the transfer and see if someone manufacturers an extension housing for the manual. possibly give dellow automotive or castlemaine rod shop a buzz

all ready have a gtr box and sump just trying to nut out adaptor for chev to gtr box

might have to use alternate front diff like duncan said a bit restricted to where

the motor can go then i dont have to alter chev sump just extend front tail shaft

First thing I would do is measure where the sump bolts to on a ls2 in relation the the height of the crank and compare it to a GTR. I have made a custom sump and adapter that moves the GTR diff forward 140mm, so I can mount the 26/30 further rearward. I already have a SR20 to RB25/26 box conversion jig and was even playing witht he idea of making a 4wd north south sr20 "gtr" (but put it in a clubman style thing)

    • That's awesome. Fully serviced/full log book history for one of those cars is super rare from what I know. With JDM's like Skyline's, Supras, are quite hard to find one with full log book history. S15's seem to be somewhat of an exception, at least the spec s australian delivered models.
    • Hey all, It's been a bit since I have been able to update.  I pulled the fuel pump, first off it was a "universal" pump and the strainer was very clogged, and it was folded over on itself.  I replaced the fuel pump and all is well....  No more stalling.

    • Hey guys so turns out this project is going to be much bigger than I thought haha but I've done some my homework and have done a few panels on my car, but one part I can just not visualise is this. If I do a spot repair and I put filler in a dent for example and sand outside of the repair with 320 grit lets say so the primer can stick as I will only put primer on that repair and the surrounding area and then repaint the whole panel. Don't I need to make sure that I don't put primer on the old clear coat? I keep seeing YouTube videos where people have new paint and primer land on the old clearcoat that isn't even dulled down, it's still shiny. I thought putting paint on clearcoat or primer on clearcoat is a bad idea because it won't stick. So in this scenario it's a bit different to mine but imagine someone doing a spot repair and only painting that small section of repair but the new paint is landing on the old clearcoat. What am I missing?
