What mods did the car have?

Full 2.5 straight through exhaust with split pulse dump pipe no cat or mufflers, FMIC, pod and had coilpacks replaced. Was running 12psi without a boost controller due to the free flowing exhaust.

Thats your experience. I used PFC, stock ecu, 2x Mines ECU and about to try NISTUNE.

MINES ECU was excellent, nothing bad about my personal experience with using mines ecu. ran 13.3 with shit tires, car went nice n hard, thrashed it. never missed a beat, even in 38c degree heat when i took it to heathcote.

The issue with the Mines is quite simple. It is not user tunable just as you can't tune a stock ecu. You can tune with a PFC or Nistune (or a Link/ViPec, Motec, etc ).

I don't think anyone is under the impression that a Mines is programmable.

The comparison isn't being made between a Mines and a programmable ECU, it's being made between a Mines and a stock ECU. As soon as you do mods to an engine the stock ECU is no longer matched to the job just as a Mines is not matched to the job if it's an off the shelf variety.

It seems very few people who have used a Mines ECU have actually had issues and it's merely here-say and innuendo that suggests they are crap.

loose the mines ecu, and have a bit of a think about your priorities. you stated that there were leaks that needed fixing that you knew about, yet instead of getting them fixed rite away, you go on a wayward mission to make your car faster.

just a quick question for you to honestly think about mate. what gives better quarter mile times, track times, or a generally "faster" car? is it the extra 5-10kw from basic bolt on mods on an otherwise standard car, or is it decent tyres, and correct wheels, or driver skill or perhaps suspension that is not warn out and 15 years old??

i have no idea what you car is like, but im guessing that upgrading things that arent entirely mechanical will improve how your car performs.

so my car is in impound and i might loose my licence.

might keep the car might not depending on how much its gona cost in court and if i keep licence or not.

i wanted the exact info i got from the tuner when i went in and got it tested. then i said in this thread exactly what i was gona do. theres no need to carry on about ecu's or whatever because i found the problems for why my car wouldnt go faster.

and it is because of the o2 sensor that im burning up so much fuel especially when im not on full throttle and getting barely any power out of it. since when do people drive around on full throttle non stop? i want my car to perform under whatever acceleration not just at full throttle.

but i have way bigger problems now so i might re name this thread 'a symptom of r&r' or something like that.

and btw the full mods on my car are as stated above for the engine and lowered on new bilstien shocks with new cobra springs and 17inch 215 's with a heap of tread on them which are pretty grippy. standard 4 pot and 2 pot brakes

mines ecu is absolutely fine as i stated before the basic map for it is tuned better then the standard ecu.

cop saw my car doin a snakey in second. didnt get the driver tho coz he didnt pull the car up. so might be able to get off it. cops here are stupidly insane on cars like mine because of all the boyracer crap thats happened over here. so they see 2 seconds of action, car gets taken away, licence and all your money pretty much.

and glad i didnt get the chance to make it faster? whys that?

LOL.

No offense mate, but I for one am happy you never had the chance to make your car faster. Clearly too much for you to handle on the roads as it is. Good luck

rofl.

ohhhh you think im a sack who cant handle a car. never had a crash drifting. never lost control of a car. only on the track have i spun my skyline out. and that was once. and i never went off the track. drivin much faster cars then mine a lot better then their owners.

so you meaning i cant handle a car orrrrrr i shouldnt be boosting on the road?

Firstly, I (and I'm sure everyone else) assumed you had your car impounded because of something YOU did, which is why you shouldn't be allowed on the streets.

Even now that you've cleared that up, you sound like an inexperienced moronic P plater. Have fun.

I still hope you don't get your car back.

Instead of gaining up on the Poster, maybe suggest some positive comments and/or suggestions, and than its up to the original poster weather or not he/she wants to listen to the advice. The typical "lets gang up and make fun of him/her" is a bit outdated and is not fun to read anymore. Not everyone here is 50 years of age, and not everyone is perfect. Lets try to help each other, and if the OP doesn't listen, simply dont write anything. my 2c anyway.

Read the whole thread if you haven't, most people in the beginning gave advice and/or constructive criticism, partly in the way of telling him he's a bit stupid.

Exactly my point mate, not everyone is an Einstein on here. Some people do have stupid ideas but help 'em out if you want, but indirectly calling them stupid is not right either.

    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
