Anyway the quote from the panel beater is out, and its definitely a write off, i've sent off the quote to AAMI and i'm now waiting for them to send an assessor down to check out my car. Fingers crossed now, hoping they won't give me a stupid price on my car.

AAMI are pretty good my wife had a KIA reo with a body kit (now that was GAY but oddly fun to drive lol)

and it got backed into 3 times and trashed by an angry customer and each time they repaired it on the other persons insurance (accept for the vandalism that was on McDonald's )

6k sounds a little too scary, i'd definitely be making an outcry if thats the case, that's bullshit.

Isn't her insurance supposed to give me enough cash to get another supra equivalent to mine, which means 20,000kms on the clock, perfect interior and original carpets. 6k won't get me that, 8k wont get me that, not even 10k would.

Nah mate, just what they consider the market value of the car. I'm not sure how exactly they decide that, I would think it would something like the value of the car on redbook, if its good enough for the government i'd imagine its good enough for an insurance company. Redbook values a 1993 non-turbo Supra at 8,900-11,200. So around that I would imagine.

yeah they value my 93 gtst at 7900 to 10000 but when i asked racv they offered me market value, i think 6900 from memory and that was 2 years ago...AAMI dont even insure imports so i dont know..Cant wait to find out.. :whoops: .

Oh FFS.

I never said the car has to go anywhere. All I f**king said was they will want someone, be it one of their in house assessors or approved panel guys to have a f**king look at the car. It's pretty f**king simple and it's correct. They will not pay out a claim without first having a look at the car in some way, shape or form.

And where did I say they are "walk(ing) all over" me? You think I came down in the last shower? If the RACV reckon I'll settle for anything less than what I have already decided on, then they are sorely mistaken.

f**king read what I said before opening your mouth.

Hope it all goes well for you, I have heard only bad things about RAC from people. Even my mum hates them, they took 2 and a half years to pay her out for a car that someone with RAC insurance wrote off in 1974 lol and it seems they havn't changed much since then

They'll give you what you want (within reason). No doubt they will offer you lower, but you have no contract with them. If you are dissatisfied then tell them to try again. If they jack up threaten to take them to small claims seeking a reasonable payout + costs.

f**k 'em. You are not at fault so why should this cost you anything?

Yeah, thanks man, i figured they'd have to, although they would try to pay out as little as possible, they're not even providing me with a courtesy car, can i rent a car and charge the costs incurred to them?

a little too lazy to take them pics, just washed the car, some scratches here and there, and one dint on the rear side panel, but what do you expect from a car built in 89.

on thursday i'll have a full day off, maybe then i'll take some pictures.

Fookin' sweet

How much did AAMI pay out for the Supra, if you don't mind me asking?

Also, I ended up getting my $1850 from the RACV. I sent them a long email with some links to 180bs for sale and some info regarding their current desirability amongst rally people so they capitulated.

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
