ClutchBurndout-:(
iv heard this is a common problem, but how do you stop the squeeling of breaks? my car squeels at any speed, not just when pulling up at lights or watever, its very annoying, do my discs need machining? cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/327217-squeeeeeeling-brakes/ Share on other sites
Trozzle
Try taking your pads out, finding some smooth cement, put some water on it, then lightly do figure-8's with the pad on the cement. Wear off the glaze on the pad. If that doesn't shut them up, machine discs. XxNinjaxX
take the pads out and use a bit of wet & dry to rough up the surface of the pad, that should fix it. its the same idea as the cement idea but i would recomend using wet & dry over cement Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/327217-squeeeeeeling-brakes/#findComment-5325421 Share on other sites
Trozzle
I'm cheap, so jewstyle is cement but yeah do that. You don't need to take off much at all, just a good 20 seconds should do it Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/327217-squeeeeeeling-brakes/#findComment-5326406 Share on other sites
MrStabby
There's been threads on this before with better solutions than the bandaids above - try searching. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/327217-squeeeeeeling-brakes/#findComment-5327908 Share on other sites
Trozzle
how is removing the glaze on the pads/disc a bandaid? I thought resolving the CAUSE of the problem, rather than covering it up with the complete opposite of a bandaid? Ultimategtr
+1 ^ You can also install these very thin adhesive pads behind the pads. Pick them up from BNT.. should be around $5 for all 4 wheels. This is the only thing that stopped my brakes from squealing. ClutchBurndout-:(
thanks heaps guys, will try these methods! i was always under the impression that as the brakes got to the end of their life they started squeaking well they do as the metal prong on the pad hits the disc, but it doesnt do it all the time, as i beleive, they will squeel at any pressure of the brake pedal, but i can pull up at lights without them squeeling by not braking as hard, but its a pain in the ass cos sometimes i go over the traffic lights line to avoid the squeel + it only squeels when there warm, dosent do it cold. Wacky Dee
as has been mentioned already ..copper grease on the anti squeal shims. When I went from factory pads to QFM HP-X they were driving me insane .. as soon as they'd warm up, squealing everywhere.. Guest
You can get a can of spray-on stuff. Not sure of the brand but I got some and worked a treat, had installed new rotors and pads and wouldn't shut it up. Got it from autobarn or something Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/327217-squeeeeeeling-brakes/#findComment-5375015 Share on other sites
