^^^ that good to hear mate, that u passed the test not that u got done by EPA. Gives me hope that I'll pass too. I have a stock exhaust so hopefully the cat will be good enough to cut emissions and quiet enough as well. Btw what kinda power u get with Racepace tune. I was about to take mine there but got he EPA notice before I could.

Factory GTR exhaust cat-back, with aftermarket dump/front pipes won't generally pass.

To the other guys - I class Nistune as non-factory.

As soon as you alter something from OEM, it is no longer classed as "factory" far as i am concerned.

And they will take the cover off your factory ecu to check for extra chippies - kents snapped a screw on mine and left it like that when it was being used for another car through EPA.

They will really open up your ECU? I have never heard of this being done before, I would argue that they could damage something with static and that I would refuse to let them dismantle something in my car, unless there is obvious stickers all over the ECU saying it has been chipped/has a nistune module in it then I can't see why they would want to open it up.

Yeah, as below, with NIstune it appears (visually) as though it is, infact, a stock ECU. Except you'd have an AM AFM. Which can be explained in no other fashion other than something illegal being changed. I guess that depends entirely on whether NISTune gets by Victoria's EPA people.

Cause if you had highflow turbo(s), NISTune, highflow injectors (or appropriately coloured ones) the only visually defectable or 'wrong' item would be AFM's.. which, on their own, arent specifically excluded.

Probably a discussion for the VIC EPA thread though..

I have sent about 15 cars through EPA with nistunes and all passed with flying colours, cars ranged from 230kw to 400kw.

A sticker change on a AFM goes a long way to conceal its changed on a RB25 as its the same size, GTR's are a non issue as i use NISMO items and they look factory too.

Injectors must be painted and its easily done with the correct plastic model paint, will even handle jet wash and steam cleaning.

If the car looks modified then yes they will start to investigate, best bet is to do everything in wrinkle black and covertly then they wont even bother looking.

hi mate, i passed an epa full emission test with a standard airbox, hks front mount, hks 2535 turbo, big fuel pump, dump pipes and front pipes with a tiny exhaust from the cat back and power fc on my r33 gts t, no worries, all i done was rub of the hks print on the wastegate and remove the power fc hand controller. easy job

Does anyone know if you must have the standard boost solenoid hooked up or is it fine to run it off the actuators? My point being, my car doesn't have the standard solenoid, I was just going to use a T-piece where the Aftermarket boost controller is.

Read the EPA thread dude... It's all in there.

The EPA do know about factory solenoids, and ensure they are connected. All emission controls must be connected.

Sometimes you are lucky and get away without it being checked.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
