I hate it... their wiper has the potential to lay scratches on the windscreen after using on so many cars without a rinse. But before I could even say NO to them they have already started cleaning mine. Worst if you have just washed your car.

You can spot them from ages away, just wind down the window and shake you hand saying no...but give them a dollar anyway

WTF? don't pay for junkie scum to get high! don't forget you are already paying for their dole money because they are lazy pieces of shit that cant be fucked working :D if anything you should give them a knuckle sandwhich

i keep my car clean as hell and these f**k come and put their dirty fingerprints all over the thing, as well as leave streaks all over the window and fqp

they even look like they are gonna touch it they get told where to go

I went passed him, he didn't wash my windshield, but I asked him how much money he was making from washing windshields. He said that he'd do 70ish cars in an hour, that nearly all payed him $1 or $2

Thats like $100 an hour

I've been looking into the legalities of professional / legitimate side-of-road windscreen washing.

Whether it's viable or not remains to be seen, particularly given public liability / local law requirements etc.

I was at the intersection of Hoddle and Victoria St. the white trash scum fuckers were washing windows and a cop car came to the intersection.

The officer yelled out to the junkie and told him to stay where he was and was dealt with.

I am not aware of any law against window washing, but that day, the officer decided to take action and make the law...

They're not all junkies...and they are working by washing windows, even if you don't consider it a proper job. Could probably find something more useful to do given most cars come with wipers and washers these days but anywhoo.

I too have heard that some of these people earn a decent coin from it?

Well if he is making $100 an hour without paying tax, then he's doing well.

You get to pick your own hours too, I guess. - Not that I'd like to wash peoples windshields, I'm just sayin'.

I call bullshit! They are ALL junkies. I walk past them every single day out the front of my place.

There is not one "respectable" person out there, as it requires a permit to work traffic lights - and they aint touting one of those thats for sure.

f**kers are earning more than the Min wage without question, and are not paying tax - and then just jamming it up their arms.

Scum of society really. And hence everytime the divvy van comes around the pack-up and high-tail it outta the area because the cops confiscate their gear.

Pity they don't do it every day IMO.

Had one on punt road richmond, shook my head told him no and he washed it anyway.

He started chatting even though i wasnt interested. Told us he used to have a skyline too till he wrote it off into a tree, that's wonderful i thought to myself.

I gave him about 50c in change.

I guess if he is a junkie it's better than him stealing robbing and breaking into homes and cars. At least he is providing a service even if it's not needed.

Maybe if they actually sold something it wouldnt be so annoying newspapers, cans of coke or something.

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
