Thanks for the ongoing discussion guys as this information is great.

Just to further complicate matters Richard (Beer Baron) goes and does this http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Fu...ke-t329801.html

This is possibly the best Skyline Brembo option possible for my car but it as a bit over the budget that I was looking at.

I ran the stock Brembos on my R33GTR at the recent SAU NSW track day. I had the Project Mu HC+ pads in the front with AP600 brake fluid.

Had no breaking issues all day and pedal felt consistent. The pulled up quite well and anyone who went in my car with me on the day commented how well they pulled up. Pads weren't that expensive at $329

I haven't had time to check the wear rate on the pads or rotors yet. I still had the stock rotors on the front too.

I used to run HC+ as well, great pads. I'll be going back to them when my current ones run out, and they'll be going into the STi as well.

Thats why i grabbed them and gave them a run Zeb. At that price it was worth a shot.

haha ye for $1200 that is definately not what they normally what people try to flog em at :O

I've never understood the high pricing for GTR brembo's, they simply are not worth the mega $$$ (1500+) people are chasing in terms of 'upgrade' over GTS-T stuff most of the time when the 'upgrade' is negligeble at best and nothing the Sumi calipers can't do themselves.

If you are going to spend a total of around $3.6k - as realistically you'd get a rebuild kit run through them before installation.

You should buy the K-Sport kit without question if 3.5k is a possible...

For $2.4-2.5k it's better value in every respect. You don't really need to upgrade rears, just put some DBA4000's on with good pads like most others tend to do.

If you really want rears (which are nice 4-pots btw), then you only need around 2k for those, of which you already have 1k saved :)

I'm looking into pricing of a group buy for the K-Sport kits at the moment so they might even come down in price...

That could be a week, maybe two off before final pricing is known.

This is what you should buy....the guy didnt answer me so i grabbed some Stoptechs instead. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ap....html&hl=AP

They are a steal. The front rotors when they die are about $1300, not sure about the rears, about the same or a few dollars less. No doubt they awe well used but you would get use of them and when those pads die have a close look at the rotors in 6-12 months and maybe replace the fronts and at teh same time give the calipers a rebuild and paint. But they would be a killer kit. I still want them even though i already need to buy another 3 cars to use all the brake shit i have :O

Troy.

You're crazy. You'll never have enough brake setups.

I ended up getting some old stock black 356mm G4's from Just Jap.. (They're sitting at home but I haven't even opened the box yet.)

They won't be going on till I get 18's to fit em.

As for pads, I've had DS2500's but don't think they're worth the money. My standardish weight 32 gtst with R34 310mm rotors goes really well with QFM A1RM's. They are $127 delivered.

I go through a set in 3 track days but my rotors last well (RDA). I'd much prefer to go through pads than rotors!

Really though, going K-sport / G4 / D2 etc over Brembos is only comparable if the Brembo's don't need rebuilding. They're over 10 years old now.

Following all of the discussion I am looking at starting with the following setup while I keep my eye out for some R33 GTR Front Brembo calipers:

Front

BDA 5000 front rotors in 324mm dia

Dog bones to step out standard calipers to fit the larger rotors

R33 GTS-T front calipers

Hawk HT10 pads

Rear

RDA Gold Passivated slotted rear rotors

R33 GTS-T calipers

Hawk HT10 pads

Braided lines and the master cylinder "T" piece to run the BM57 master cylinder and booster

What are your thoughts guys - am I on the right track?

I hope the dog bones turn out well, Will watch with intrest as to what they are like on track, heard many stories both good and bad.

interested to know what bad stories you have heard?

and have they been with a specific brand of dog bones? or just dog bones in general

clearance issues with the r33gtst/32gtr ones, having to grind the caliper and the bracket to make things fit up.

Some people talk about flex in the brackets affecting feel and causing uneven pad wear

    • Out of curiosity, how do you cover up the inspection hole? Surely it doesn't sit open like that, right? With grime and dirt coming in and oil going out?
    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything
