Yeh true that mate I do want to but a built engine will come before new rims, You know how it is.

C'mon cpd, I thought SAU was all about helping each other out :O

In my experience, screw that!

Step1: AWESOME TYRES!

Step2: Sort out every ounce of the suspension first

Step3: Big Brakes

Step4: Big Reliable Power.

Bigger brakes are most definately the next thing on the list Matt....had a bit of fade going on on saturday

When my Falken 215's (Kind of a semi slick) wear out then yes, better slicks

As with suspension already have the whole SK kit and am pretty happy with it till I learn more (I know its not the full gammit but still pretty good IMO)

And then when money permits more power, Ive got 235rwkw at the moment which isnt big power I know but is still a pretty nice really responsive car.

I know this isnt in the league of you guys but it will come, Ive still got a lot to learn and sub 1:15 isnt that bad for a uber newb

Keep at that power level, and just learn to thrash it hard!

No point going for more until you learn (I learnt this the hard way... now I'm changing cars!)

Throw some good tyres on, and a good set of pads. Should hold up for a track day fine.

I ran Project Mu HC+ pads in Shell's car, and they only had one drama, and that was when Shell and I did a stint back to back at the end of the day, and I really hammered them!

And 1:15 isn't bad!

About what I was managing in the stocker... And I had a ball!

Once you get better tyres the brakes dont need to work anywhere near as hard as you can carry more corner speed,

Get some QFM Comp 9 Pads, for track days, at $190 for the fronts they are hard to beat price v performance, and some very good brake fluid (I use Motul RBF600 race bike fluid) and maybe have a look at the UAS air deflectors. and cut away the factory dust shrouds round the rotors.

As Matty Said, learn to drive the shit outta the car before adding power,

Ill be running matts Big f**k Off turbo...but at like 7psi untill I get a handle on the car.

With 235rwks and good tyres you WILL go sub 1:10s in a 33 gtst

Mmmmmm, was running the QFM AR1M pads and the rbf fluid.

But as my copilot was telling me I was tending to use the brakes too much and with stock rotors that have already been machined twice could maybe have notenough meat left on them???

Calipers may need a rebuild????

I'm just guessing zebra not really sure but I know I was braking waaaay to early and to much at times

BTW I'm about half way through reading your build thread....interestin stuff

Cool

Yeah maybe a new set of rotors could be on the cards, get some slotted ones if you want to track the car a bit...I use RDA and like I said before, just try and get some fresh air onto the rotors.

Lol my build thread...I think ive changed my mind in there about 100 times...

I don't know about that, yes better tyres mean better corner speed, but it also means you can brake later and harder without locking it all up. I remember when I borowed some full slicks at Wakefield, my brakes copped an absolute pounding... I needed to replace the rotors afterwards due to significant cracks in the standard rotors

At the moment I'm of two minds to get coilovers or adjustable suspension bits for moar camber and castor... fortunately the wallet says neither at the moment :)

I have also lost a LMGT2 centre cap at the track, but at QR. Perhaps one day someone will get a full set from walking the race tracks.

I swapped to Rays 350Z wheels - LMGT2 are still sitting up in Queensland.

*raises eyebrows* do want?

then get some GT4s then im on the way to a full set

white only kthx

Hey Guys,

Just a quick update to get back on topic.

Well Ive called Wakie and they said they havnt found any caps but will keep an eye out for them so that sucks.

Does any of you guys know if all Rays caps would fit the older LMGT rims?? as in if I was to get a set of say LMGT4 caps would they still fit?

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
