grippier tyres.....more track knowledge......hardest bit is the fact i dont want to manualise it

I was running plain street tyres. Some okay-ish Bridgestone items. Was also suffering misfire above 4,500rpm, so I had to shift gears early. But yeah it helps to know the track well

See how I go next time out.

:)

^^ LOL gav

Nugzy I hear ya... my GTR was all over the place on street tyres out there... semis are a must for good times.

You weren't the only one I was just running 595 federals, I was in car 20 the Purple 31 coupe, only chang i made to the car from my drift set up was putting 235's on the back vs 215s all round.

Although I drove the car to 150% of the tires capabilities, the car was either sliding the front or the back or all the whole time. and I was not trying to drift it.

But I reckon a 126.99 and running consistently and being within half a second the whole day of that time with street tires and stock brakes, with the car sliding the whole time, even at 200km/h when clicking 5th at the kink, was pretty reasonable.

would have liked to go faster but need better tires and brakes

Was the suspension overly stiff at the rear? Will cause the rear end to slide far more than you want for a rwd car, obviously if you primarily drift then you don't want to change much but some softer rear rates and dampners would probably be of big benefit.

Running 32 rear sub frame rear spring rate is 7.5 kg JIC dampers non adjust valveing inverted mono tube, white line adj rear bar the thickest one 24mm from memory stiffest setting 17x9+35 wheels 1deg neg ds camber 1.5 ps camber .5mm toe in.

Front 31 struts converted to coil overs 8.1 kg springs bilstien inserts, (fells just slightly under damper 3 deg neg 2mm toe out 17x8 total offset +3 5deg castor (cant put any more in or ill hit the front bar) front bar whiteline 27mm adj on softest setting.

Haven't got around to plunging in all my geometry and settings into my full car dynamic modelling software yet but will get around to it shortly.

Was mainly having issues with slow-med speed under steer around tight corners and have almost fixed that, but it has obviously induced high speed over steer (with 200 only RwKw you should not be able to blaze the tires in 5th at 200).

but yeah Not too concerned just yet as the car is a drift car and those conditions are not encountered at mallala during drift

Well the speedo is not connected, and I over estimated. just calculated my speed from my tach, only hit 180Km/h.

6500 rpm 235/45R17 (643mm dia) 4.36 diff in 4th 1.1

didn't mean to BS, but it was very hairy having the ass step right out on you at that speed any way

it's tonnes of fun! right after you shit yourself

i think marc (GTS II) might have done that around the kink behind me at one point. i had a mirror full of opposite lock SVD :)

I too had grip issues, both under brakes/cornering and coming on boost. And that was with 265 Toyos but admittedly being 18's really doesn't help.

Definitely going to get some 17's for track wheels and fit some semis.

Yeah, i know, im well behind in getting pics up. Along with building my own cars, and working, i've been getting through pics, more later tonight... In the meantime, the MX5, creating a smokescreen to distract others...

And fighting well above its weight ;)

probably the classic 'oh shit oh shit oh shit OH SHIT!' face.

ha, guess my spoiler makes a bit of a difference through the kink, never had the back end feel like it wanted to dance off line.

i remember my thought proces quite well:

"okay here we go, 50 meter board, wait, wait, wait BBBBRRRRAAAAAAKKKKEEEEE, turn in......

shit, too much

catch it... hey check out this cool slide.... ah wel its gone too far, keep the power on and do a big skidOOOOHHHHHH SSSHHHHHIIIIIIIITTTTTT!!!!!!!!"

then a little bit of wee came out

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
