rb26 main crank journals are 2mm smaller on diameter compared to rb30 so it's anyones guess how you fit rb26 bearings in there. You don't need to do any special trickery to make rb30 blocks hold big hp except get it built properly with quality parts and a good tune.

all rb series have the same main journals, the main journals vary

to make a rb30 bottom end reliable

ARP main stud kit

H beam rods (usually the good ones come with ARP bolts)

Balance and weight match all conrods (some call it blue printing)

other then that they are pretty strong

rb30 cranks already have been nitrided from factory, which the hardness coating is 0.010" thick if you do a 10/10 main and big end grind advised to have it re nitrided

if your running nitro or methanol or both get the piston skirts "tough coated"

Just another question to add to this, but is it worth deburring/polish the inside of the block? Like Tidy up all the casting marks etc? or is this a waste of time? I have been told it helps oil to settle in the sump quiker. Same with oil return from head, and in round the oil filter feed.

felix, just build it mate, lol

mine is a std block not painted, spool rods, cp,s,cometic h/g arp,s acl race bearings, done 3000miles on the motor since it sucked something in and did no5 big end, of that 3000 miles over 1000 miles are on track, i ran it in for 40 miles on mineral oil then it did 8 hours on the dyno and then i took it to zolder/spa and the ring all in one weekend.. mine makes 640bhp/556lbs @ all 4 on 1.5 bar..go for it..

according to spoolup

they paint the inside with some kind of smooth paint so that the oil slips down faster.....worth looking into !

old v8 trick from the 70's

class F red insulating paint, its great until it peels, but peeling is not overly common. Commercial Diesel's have come factory with this coating for decades.

heres the gear (aussie dealer) if anyone wants to use it:

But yeah felix there are many threads on here with all info needed.

Don't overthink, quality parts and screw together-easy as

A good thread to read is MarkOs one, he went from 2.6 to 3.0 and basically kept a running journal as he went

    • Yeah, the thread is only nearly 20 years old.
    • Been down in Tassie for 2 weeks (a cruise, not a race for once) but spent a little time on her when I got back. I worked out the injector settings in the PowerFC were not correct for nismo 555s, set those to 66% +10ms and added a little air at closed throttle, set the timing (approximately, because it has some weird non 15o cells around idle) and now she starts and idles properly. She purrs like a kitten (ignore the co2 alarm in the background, I did  ) 20250518_171052.mp4 Next step, off for run-in, tuning and alignment!
    • Went to a drift practice day at a local circuit (held on the reserve parking area behind the grandstand) for the first time in about 15 years. Some kei cars were drifting as well, a not so surprising Suzuki Carry truck, and two 1st gen Daihatsu Copens that were converted to rear wheel drive(!) using Daihatsu Boon X4 transfer case, prop shaft and rear diff, obviously omitting the front driveshafts. They looked really fun to slide. I heard that they cost "about half" as much as a Nissan Silvia etc to run.  On the track 'Tech M' a local BMW tuning garage had a customer track day. Mainly recent models but there was one E36 which looked ancient among all the current models. It was cool watching the drifting and then turning around and seeing random people thrashing their M3/4s  central-circuit-drift-practice-2025-05-18-long-yt.mp4
    • I prefer it with those wheels (sacrilege?) 馃構 Here's a photo of a fully original one for reference. The price is $350K....
    • I would like to keep it around 15k but if I need more to make it reliable and not have to worry about the car breaking I can go more. It's my project car so I'm just trying g to figure out what needs to be in it i know basic things like turbo cams injectors I'm just unsure of the size and the specifics so I'm spending alot of time on Google and its mostly rb25 and rb26 not alot on neo
