if you went for a twin scroll GT3071R with a 0.78 housing you could get close to 300kw with cams and it would have a stupid amount of response. but this will be an expensive route as you need a twin scroll exhaust housing and you need twin gates to do it properly.

Another turbo that people haven't suggested is ether a TD06SL2-20G for just under 300kw or a T67 for over 300 with standard cams. Both these will need external gates as both the Trust and T3 flanged housings are external gate housings.

reason i ask is volk34 had his car on the same dyna pack dyno as you a couple weeks back and made 210kw. then today at the SAU-SA dyno day at willals

his car made 162rwkw. thats a 48kw difference between his 2 dyno runs

sorry to use your car as an example volk

There is something else going on there, in the past with the older version there was around 10% difference between dyna pack dynos and other drive on chassis dynos due to no correction for wheel slippage, but the newer versions seem to be pretty much the same as most mainlines.

Your talking about a 24% difference which sounds to me like something else is wrong. Also 162 would be just under what would be expected from a standard auto R34 (don't know what car his is) or is about right for a stock untouched R33. so what mods is he running, has his car been tuned? is it running more boost? was it running the same boost in Willals dyno?

i think he has a auto r34 gtt. as for the other stuff i cant comment because i dont know.

"loksta6" you are now on notice and will receive an official warning..........followed by a ban if this slander towards a business continues.

Your post has been deleted but have attached a link to your warning fyi.

If anyone has an issue with a business, take it up with them but KEEP IT OUT OF HERE!!

thanks for all of your responses, as i had suspected gt3076 with .86 will be the one. i have all suporting mods and an eye out for some poncams. hopefully see and introduce myself next dyno day :P thanks.

i am pretty much going the same way mate

I'd get the .82 again if I was to buy another turbo. Response difference between .63 and .82 would only be a couple of hundred rpm max. And your going down the E85 route so the better flowing rear will make a world of difference when you start running higher boost levels. Come to think of it. Just get the 1.06 :D

after doing a bit more of a research your right Luke......63 and .82 rear housings dont have a world of difference in regards to response.....1.06 is in a league of its own isnt it??? :D

.63 rear housing should see me 300rwkw on 25??? mind you its going to be internal gated

ahh internally gated's a different story. get the .82.. you'll run into overboost issues with the smaller housing and IW.

FWIW mine is ex gated type .63 and makes 360 rwkw so the housing can flow more then 300 rwkw thats for sure.

While on the topic of turbo upgrades, I was looking into mix matching housings, staring with my 2530 ...

I'm thinking of upgrading the compressor side of my HKS GT2530 turbo.

The turbine side of the 2530 atm is a 76 trim (53.8 major - 47.0 exducer) wheel and 0.64AR T3 housing which I was going to keep.

Thinking of throwing on, on the compressor side ...

Garrett T04S upgrade kit

wheel: 59 / 76 / 60 trim

housing: AR70 (rated to 550hp)

Now the 2530 is internally gated. I'm looking for a responsive daily driven turbo for 250+awkw, with enough poke for track days and time attacks.

There is another T04S compressor kit, which may be too big for the 76 trim turbine ...

Garrett T04S upgrade kit

wheel: 61.4 / 82 / 56 trim

housing: AR70 (rated to 600hp).

Thoughts?

What you are in effect making is a GT2876R, they are a crap miss-matched turbo as the small turbine can't produce enough drive to drive the compressor wheel to full efficiency. The biggest i would go with a NS111 turbine wheel is a 71mm compressor which will give you in effect a GT2871R.

If you remember Ryan was running a GT2871R on his R33 and he was making 250 kw with stupid response. I would keep the T3 housing and buy a GT2871R CHRA and make up what Ryan was running

Garrett elude to the miss-match of the GT2876 when they state on the website;

* Best suited for unique applications such as asymmetric turbo installations

* Not recommended for general performance applications

Thanks for that. Now I've got a better starting point to go shopping :D

    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
    • It says 300ZX, does that make it an Aus delivered car? Funny how back in the day I just couldn't care less about Z32's and these days I am just in love with them. Back when Nissan was into pushing the envelope. 🤣
    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
