bees willy off my pb, 0.03

well done Russ and Ant knocking time off their pb's.

wish i had bought batteries for the gopro to face it backwards, as russ was using the right foot to

steer when on the ku's. lol every time i looked in the rear mirror.

looks like the gear selector for 3rd and 4th are dead as well. there are no gears there....

Man I wish I could get away with linking all the rear cleavage section. I reckon they might pick up the drifting theme haha. Too early in the day to get sent home. Dean and Tim were filming that section so should have some footage of it too.

Well done Russ, 34 is flyiiiiiiiiiiing mate!

And Ant, looks like it's 33's or bust next time for you mate, awesome job. I'm astounded at how much the times keep dropping. Real testament to how well the drivers are pedalling these things.

Dougmo, great job too mate. Fly that SR20 flag!

great day, new pb for me also,1:35.9 but during the 3rd session the pipe to my wastegate cracked and ended my day pretty early.

gives me room to improve next time though I guess as theres still time to be had for sure.

Which car was yours mate? Pics?

After the last round at Winton where recent suspension work really came into their own I was keen to head back. Despite the fact that this round was booked on Bathurst plus Jap GP weekend and less than stellar accom for Fri night it turned into a top weekend! The weather was awesome with sun until just after lunch and a little bit of cloud cover after to provide a bit of a break.

My previous PB of 1:35.337 was set at the last round here back in July with the new suspension work but 1/2 bald RE55's. This time I had a 'one round old' set of Advan A050's so was hoping to better my time....and better it I did with a new PB of 1:34.170! This was then backed up by a string of 1:34 laps in the next session but the 33 still avoided me. The biggest stand out was the speed I was able to carry through the sweeper and following kink just after - after falling off there back in July I wouldn't have thought it possible!!

A big congrats to everyone for a top drive with PB's everywhere - and Russ what can I say a 1:34 is an awesome effort with your car on worn A050's.

The only downer on the day was the last session - as a lot of people had left or retired the organisers grouped a whole bunch of people together from slower groups. Unfortunately, a few people who really should know better decided that we were racing for sheep stations. Despite closing on them with around a 4sec laptime difference and given plenty of opportunity to let us past on straights, they decided to make a race out of it - late braking/missed apexs included. This left me having to make more-dangerous-than-I-would've-liked overtakes in order to get past. This goes against the rules of a timed spint day - if you want to get the red mist out speak to the organisers and get them to run a super sprint. That way the group is spaced out by the green flag start and everyone partaking is clear what is going on.

Despite the above, a thanks to the organisers as I thought the day ran very smoothly and despite the fact that the incidents were minor, they were dealt with very efficiently. Next time just bring a blue flag or run a super sprint!

In car vids to follow.....

His is the racing spec S13 silvia unless I am mistaken....which is entirely possible :D

And Dane...I didn't end up seeing much of you throughout the day...how did you go?

It is indeed the black S13.

I was pretty happy with the day, though I only did 3 sessions. A 1:40.7 is 2.8 seconds faster than last time without the exhaust and swaybars so I was happy enough with that.

In the second session the car was misfiring under full load in 4th gear and the engine light came on. I got a little worried, but went out again to see if there was issues and all seemed ok, but my pads were worn quite badly and I was having trouble slowing it for the Essess so thought I'd call it a day to make sure I could get home!

Looks like we werent the only ones with WRX problems on the weekend.

Have a look what this rex driver does. Buildup from 2:30 then it goes wrong from 4:40.

Well done Ant and Russ, those times are getting serious, good to see SAU still at the top of the time boards.

What's with the Evos these days?? Are they driven by pro drivers?? They're getting up there with the times aswell....

We can't have Evos having the fastest times of the day!!!!

yeah i drive the black s13, its certainly nothing special, stripped interior, cusco bent cage,r32 front brakes and stupid

stiff drift spec coilovers, tomei diff. makes 230kw on 12psi. but it is fun to drive.

Well Jack lend me your silver beast and we will see whether or not the Evo's are still on top :) The drivers aren't pro's but seem assoc with Chasers....as for the cars they look pretty serious with alot of go fast gear but as usual at track days the owners are pretty cagey about what the cars pumping out.

What is it with back cars being quick...well i jus paid rego today so that is one step closer to getting back on the road

LOL.....you know what they say Roy....once you go black you never go back :) Can't wait for you to start hitting the Vic track again mate...any plans?

Chasers...

I think the guys on the weekend had 250-280rwkw + driving skill.

They start with voltex aero parts (aka cyber evo) then go from there.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
